#Add specific beatbox levels for different groups

that ruins a new beatboxer perspective thinking they have to be as good as them and result in many of them quitting
even if it doesn't matter it should at least be acknowledged that i've seen this in a lot of community for beatboxing that the new one always give up because they couldn't meet the unrealistic expectations of beatboxing
I think it would still be useful to keep the levels of beatboxing as a standard thing just a suggestion to be frank
In my experience i almost quit beatboxing entirely because there wasn't a space that fit in well with me and not having at least a new system of level for beatboxer in my perspective would be a detriment to newer members
fun fact: the Beatbox International Discord server was purged because high-skill beatboxers pretended they were beginners so that they could compete alongside actual beginners and kick their ass with a routine that would take years for an inexperienced beatboxer to learn
so even if there were beginner, intermediate or skilled level VC's, they can only run on a level of trust among all members of the server
something that, with how the beatboxing scene seems to be right now, is only a hypothetical
also doesn't help that all the advice beatboxers ever give boils down to "don't practice 24/7, practice 25/8"
yeah i know
it sucks
was I being too much of a doomer in my messages
basically tainted my suggestion to the ground at this point
nothing we can do about this either
well what a way to taint the suggestion though
that was definitely helpful with this post
😐
that because in my own word the lack of moderation and lack of effort they do in the server
they don't check it every now and then to see if theres a post about scam or fishy links
this server is better because they have bots for this server that does that job
...
well I think that's because of what I mentioned earlier that the mods gave up on the server and it eventually created a vicious cycle leading to where we are now
still i think this server should at least have a new system of levels and experiment they can try
hell i'll be a tester for beatbox levels if they want
i just don't want this server to be tainted with negativity and such
that resulted the downfall of bbx int
not mention I am kinda upset there isn't a SBX Discord server anymore
Nothing is tainted by bringing up the past. VCapella recognized the attempt that BeatBox International had done previously and the unfortunate downside to what happened when trying it out. If anything, they're trying to hit you with the honest truth. Take the truth as you will but they've expressed a valid point.
It's difficult to grow a community and to cater it all to all skill levels. Especially beatboxing that is growing exponentially.
The question is.
What and who determines who is skilled and who is not. Who is beginner and who is not. Is it all self selectable? Reality is. are we really going to interview every member about their skill level of beatboxing and then assign them a role. But what if they improve over the course of 2 months to an "experienced" beatboxer, do we have to tell someone that we've improved? Do they have to critique us?
There are so many wavering factors that this all could go pear shaped because at the end of the day, beatbox is subjective as to what is skillful and what is not.
Don't get me wrong, having segregated sections for skill levels would probably allow for more comfortability when jamming, but it also abolishes the point of a community.
I don't believe it's the moderation that's the problem, but the optimism and encouragement by the members that really make the server run.
The want for skill based channels is totally valid, but the concerns brought up here with the past systems and problems are as well. Deciding who determines the level is one. Definitely can't let the user decide as most will give themselves the highest level to be with the best. Other than that, it's gotta to be the staff team or a 'verified group' which dedicates their time to pop-up events where we would judge a short set from each person. This all unfortunately takes a good amount of planning, time and involvement from some people and that always bring $ to the conversation whether you like it or not. I don't see a system like this working without those tryout events being under a subscription tier on discord. I also can't imagine there would be many happy people in global if they saw they had to pay to "be skilled". Just some concerns I see, but I'm definitely open to conversation on this. Thanks for all the input.
i'm just more concerned on what we can do though
there been many people quitting way too much from multiple communities i'm in and most of them usually don't feel included enough in the groups
to even bother so they just quit
i'm not saying we should add it back if it didn't work in the past i'm more concerned on what we can try that was never tried in this server before to prevent most of the newer one giving up and leaving
I set it up so people who select <1 year bbx experience
to get acacess to beginner jam
maybe we can have 1 year or above helper/teacher helping the newer ones? I mean i can volunteer to help the beginner if needed?
I rather do it for free just helping them if needed
