If the game will give us the opportunity of having "modding-like abilities", let us change all objects OR one of each with different values.
For example, we could change the color of all trees for red, but we could also change the color of one tree for red, another for blue, another for yellow and so on.
Maybe we could press a key in one object to let us change these values?
