Fry your own potatoes
I haven’t weighed myself in a while. I was active in sports during high school and had a job in college that was quite active (usually walking like up hill 4-5 miles a day)so I never really thought about my weight because I didn’t think I was really “fat” or anything. However since graduating school and getting into one of the most sedentary fields in the world I haven’t been AS active, Over the past like week or so i’ve been looking in the mirror and being like damn I could do with losing a few pounds or so. I don’t think i’m fat or anything but… yeah☠️
Anyway I stepped on a scale today and i weigh like 12ish more pounds than I genuinely thought I was. I was actually quite shocked cus I feel like I don’t weigh that much? Tho I think its cus any fat I do get genuinely just goes to my butt and a tiny bit goes to my stomach so I didn’t really notice anything. I also do think I have quite a bit of muscle mass still from sports as my arms and forearms are pretty defined/toned.
With that being said, i’m hopping on the train with @obsidian basalt and gonna try and lose some weight. For reference, my scale said im 135 pounds and im 5’1. So I think I would like to get down to 120 maybe. Im not overly educated on best practices on weight loss and the likes but the plan right now and some of what ive been doing for the past few days consist of:
Eat only from 12-8 or 1-9, this isnt too different from what I normally do though because I dont eat breakfast. The hard part is going to be fighting urges to snack late at night.

Im going to try and learn to cook more healthy meals but I AM a picky eater (throw your “BOOOOO”s out now) so its genuinely very hard for me to try new foods. RN, im working on eating broccoli, brown rice, and baked chicken tenders that I brine and stick in the airfryer. And then for lunch, Im eating some strawberries, some of the “healthy” salt n vinegar ritz chip thingies and then 1-2 celery stalks with peanut butter. Going to also try and find more healthy lunch options as well. And ofc drinking water, Maybe I should try and drink a full gallon a day?

Im exercising in the mornings before work. Im trying to get into jump roping, that shits tiring asf and I can do like 1 full minute before im dead. If I dont jump rope, I do treadmill and do 12 incline, 2.5 speed, 30 minutes and then after that I do like 45 minutes of like 3-5 incline and 2 speed
I also bike around a bit when I can, from anywhere from 30mins - 1.5 hours BUT its an electric bike so not a ton of work on my end and im not sure how many calories I burn from that, if any at all lol
anyway Ill try and remember to update here weekly and im hoping this will also give me some motivation. Im using MyFitnessPal to track calories and pictures of my body and what not.
If yall have any advice, tips, whatever I would love to hear it.
Same advice as PP.
Make attractive healthy meals you'll enjoy eating after you're at your target weight
People make it work when they make healthy meals attractive.
I wish you the best of luck on your goal! 🙂 I think your plan is pretty solid so far
And I definitely agree about making healthy food attractive
Wishing you the best, KJ!! Drinking water definitely helps with feeling full especially at night. I keep glass bottles in the fridge to fill up my water bottle so it’s crisper than plain tap water and might squeeze in 1/4 lemon’s juice as a reward. 🙂
thanks everyone 🙂 i guess i def need to find more healthy foods cus once i hit the 120 i just KNOW i will go back to eating how i was and then ill be right back here haha
yeah diets need to be sustainable
because you will be following this diet for the rest of your life if you want to maintain a healthy weight
i think
that said i'm not sure how heavy or tall you are
but i'm pretty sure diets are like a lifelong thing, so you need to find foods that you enjoy
and work for you
im 135 and 5’1
yup
gonna work on that
even though i live in america i still dont' know the imperial system 💀
but from what i google that isn't too bad! so i imagine it won't be incredibly difficult to lose it
still i wish you the best 🙂
I’ve noticed as I ate less sugar, carbs, and processed snacks eventually the cravings went away so if you stick with it it gets easier!
Also idk about you but I have to weigh everyday and look at the weekly or biweekly average to see if my weight is actually going up or down so don’t be discouraged if your weight seems to swing a lot.
yes i havent eaten really any sugar in like at least 2 days. Other than i had about 6 strawberries total over 2 days
i do have 2 reeses cups sitting in my room and im looking at them like 🥲
im trying to think of more meals I can eat and i was thinking of like a chicken wrap / snack wrap (if u remember those from mcdonalds) but idk how I would feel about eating baked chicken wrap and i think i would like it more if it was crispy but idk how healthy that is. If i did crispy i would probably get like frozen tenders from the bag and stick em in the air fryer but idk typing it out, that doesnt sound healthy haha
I think it’s ok to have a small treat once and awhile if it keeps you committed in the long run!
Would you consider eating grilled chicken in your wraps? I pan fry chicken with minimal oil and it lets me flavor them a lot more and then I can put it on salads.
Idk about specifically frozen chicken tenders but having lean meat protein in your diet seems important with all the exercise you’re doing and if you’re hearing it in an air fryer that seems ok.
i feel like i may need to eat more but im not sure
currently im not eating until 1pm cus like i stated in the post im trying to eat only during 1-9 cus google said its 16:8 fasting and may be helpful for weightlosss.
Anyway, once 1pm rolls around I eat
2 stalks of celery with peanut butter (~210 calories)
some ritz crisp and thins (~130 calories)
and then 3-4 strawberries (negligible calories)
so im eating like ~350 calories for lunch but i usually feel pretty full afterwards and it lasts me until pretty late (6-7 i start getting hungry)
so around 7 i eat dinner which is just my broccoli, rice and chicken which is like ~450 calories and then another stalk of celery with peanut butter.
So in total on a daily im not really eating a lot of calories. Granted ive really been on this specific diet for like 3 days. So im wondering if I should try and eat more, like calories wise for lunch? like i said the celery and chips and stuff i eat leaves me pretty stuffed so i dont really think of trying to eat anything more but idk if that means its good
same with my dinner, i absolutely tear up the dinner and i feel full afterwards
Is that only about 800 calories a day? I know you mentioned being 5’1 but that still seems too low for the long-term especially if you’re physically active. You don’t want to be accidentally cutting your metabolism off or losing muscle mass.
ye its like 900 a day and i talked with friends and ye its too low LOL so im gonna add like an extra 250 calories daily
I put in 5’1, 135 lbs female, and 25 was the default age and it suggests you should be eating around a minimum of 1500 a day if you’re totally sedentary.
This free BMR calculator estimates basal metabolic rate based on well-known formulas. Also, learn more about variables that affect BMR.
gonna mess around and try and find more things to add to the diet as well, gonna look to see if i can add maybe like another 100-150 or so or so ontop of the like 200 im alrdy adding
There’s a calorie counter tool on that page too. Definitely think it’s safe to add 300-350 to what you’re eating now and you’ll still lose weight
Especially if you’re early 20s and exercising
ya im only 21 and gonna try and stick to doing some exercise in the mornings, just cardio on treadmill that will get heart rate elevated
Seems like you’re doing the right thing doing what feels right and making small changes at a time
ok so with some of the things i will start eating ill be at around 1220 calorie in take but with working out will probably be looking at like maybe 1120
i been eating pretty well all week, so today im treat myself to a small pizza 🙂
i bumped up my calorie intake since i wasnt eating enough, now im eating a yougrt and protein bar in the mornings now and throwing in some more “healthy” chips and a fiber brownie
and also not eating from 1-9 but more so 10:30ish-9
nice! i think eating something like that every now and then definitely doesn't hurt
hmm but should we take weight loss advice from a plump phoenix instead of a thin one

ok i think today will just be considered my cheat day lol
went out (and still out) and im eating jollof rice, chicken, took a shot lmaoo
ontop of the pizza i ate earlier
we still on track tho
i think sunday will also be kinda an unhealthy day cus i am traveling and visiting a new city so…
Cheat with friends, never cheat alone is a good system.
another not so healthy day lol, i spent the day in a new city but this week should be good in terms of staying on track and everything as i dont have anything planned that should throw me off. Esp since i start oncall in 2 days so ill prolly just be in the house anyway
what to do when ur craving mcdonalds fries
Find something else that's delicious instead.
Chilli sauce, lemon and soy dressing on potatoes or cauliflower
drink a glass of metamucil before eating fries
for me i try and get my midn off of food
so usually i watch youtube
or drink a bunch of water
