#Do companies reserve graduate positions?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
My manager said I can apply for a graduate role and he’ll coach me for the interview and he believes I’ll almost definitely get the job but is that because they reserve positions on the graduate role for their interns?
Who’s to say what your specific company does under the hood 🤷♂️
That’s true, I’m just wondering if I’m a shoo-in because of my experience at the company
Internships generally are treated as long interview processes: they're not trying to get value out of it directly, but use it as a way to vet who they should hire later. If there's headcount available for new grads, then it's going to go first to returning interns
But there's not a guarantee that the company is going to be hiring. Probably, but not necessarily.
They are hiring, fortunately, I just wondered if it will go to me first if I apply and pass the interview
Generally yes, because you're a known quantity
How well do I have to do in the interview to get the job first? Let’s say a score out of 10 where 5 is the minimum
This is entirely company-dependent. Some companies don't re-interview interns for full-time positions (because the internship gave more information than an interview could)
Due to fair employment practices they have to interview me
What can I do to improve my chances of getting the job?
Didn't your boss say they'd coach you?
