If you can ballpark it, that’s usually what i do
If you’re off by a few weeks it’s usually not a big deal, especially for jobs like that
I’ve omitted stuff that’s not on my resume for background checks but maybe it can vary based on company
resume isn't related. it's what you put on your job app, right?
Also, for dates, when I got it wrong they got back to me with dates that they had in their system
resume is basically make up whatever, but it's fair game to discuss in the interview. no one's going to verify it
the tricky part is i used to work at a reastaurant when i was 17 as a bus person (worked there for 5+ years)
but somewhere in between they promoted me to server, but idk exactly when
i heard many will red flag it and they will tell me im a bogus, and im afraid they will rescind my offer
Can you ask someone at the company? Background checks usually verify what you put, I've never had a background check come back and say "hey we found out you worked at a movie theater in high school and didn't put it on the app" or anything.
Remember he's in Canada so things might be different. I'm so lazy I don't bother putting anything more than my last job in
@uncut shadow I've done Hire Right background checks before in Canada. They usually ask for X amount of years going back for the background check. It should specify that somewhere?
Otherwise, what I normally do, is fill out the positions that i've used on my resume and leave it at that.
it specify 5 years, but yeah between 2014-2020 i worked as a busperson, and later promoted into server (but not sure when)
i hope theyre not too concerned about the title
i put "bus person / server" as the title
and i doubt my previous manager even remember/ have info about this
If it specifies 4 years, you put everywhere you worked in the last 5 years. For a bus person / server, they won't care much on the title as there simply validating that yes, KJB worked at XYZ place
yeah thats my main concern, other than that im not sure if i stopped working there late march or early april, i put march, hopefully few weeks of difference isnt a matter to them
but i heard hireright is pretty bad
like youre guilty unless proven innocent
Few weeks won't matter, its understandable that you can forget the exact date you left.
Don't read hire right reviews, just do the background check, stop overthinking it 😛
whats the process like? do they literally call my previous manager?
because i was known there as someone else (they use my middle name instead and noone there knows my first name) lol
No idea. Generally from what I remember, they just call the company, ask if KJB worked there from 2015-2016 and that's kinda it
GFL for me. I worked for 5 years as a Field Engineer for Anadarko. Occidental nommed them in 2019....and pretty much liquidated all the admin and camp infrastructure. I don't think I could prove I worked there if you put a gun to my head.
