So a lot of your bullets are so short and so closely related that it seems like you're just trying to fill space, but it comes at the cost of being harder to scan.
I did a quick scan like a recruiter or hiring manager would before reading more in depth and it missed a lot of your good bullets.
For both of your experiences it seems like you've got 5 bullets for the same project, which means a lot of repeated words/phrases and the impact is spread out all over the place.
Taking your first listed internship as an example (is this still an internship? it's been going on for over a year, seems more like working for campus IT or as a teaching assistant)
I'd combine into 3 bullets:
AI tutor with MCP, RAG
UI with OAuth
SimSearch improvements (pgvector I'm guessing?)
If you do this it'll be easier to skim
Can you explain more about that? for first experience for example, i thought each bullet point covers its own area. like UI and auth are different features/topics ones backend ones frontend. also i only have 2 experiences so if i compact everything my resume would be much more project heavy to fill in the white space
Most of the time you're going to use the UI to integrate the auth, was assuming you did there as well (helps make the backend less stateful).
But for example, combining the LLM orchestration with MCP bullet, MCP on it's own doesn't do anything, it needs the orchestration to make it useful because you're integrating it with something that uses it
sorry, I missed flask, replace UI with fullstack app, lol
I see what you mean. I feel like I'm still missing the point sorry. For example if I combined UI and auth. when a recruiter scans resume, they naturally look down left column, they would miss half of the sentence
so you've got the AI orchestration with MCP and RAG, a fullstack app with auth that calls it, and then database work to improve SimSearch.
Recruiters don't look down in a straight column, they do an "F" pattern
right
but isnt the way it works is the look down left column, then if bullet point catches their eye they then scan down the row?
so if its
-UI
-auth
they see both ui and auth but if its
- UI blah blah auth
they might miss the auth stuff because they werent interested in ui or assumed the whole bullet point was ui?
Auth is probably the least impressive thing about that app
Auth is "table stakes"
right, but shouldnt an experience have 4-5 bullet points, i feel like im still missing what youre saying sorry
like i get i could combine but im not seeing the benefit of combining as it just creates whitespace?
like any line i take out of expereience would just need filling from more less impressive project stuff?
Don't focus on the specific number of bullets, focus on having good bullets that are high impact, right now you have a bunch of low impact bullets
it's the combination of these bullets that makes them higher impact
ahh i get what youre saying
you can basically assume you've got about 5 words to hook the reader into looking at the rest of that sentence
AI tutor? ok, lets read more
MCP server? buzzword, I might lose interest if I didn't associate this with the AI tutor
Responsive fullstack app? not the best wording, I'd focus more on leading with what the app does
SimSearch Optimization? love it
Google OAuth 2.0? zzzz
adding OAuth to your fullstack app? "ah ok, so he followed best practices while making his app, good"
