Someone asked if they could get a referral
Oh, gotcha
Alot of scam responses recently too
Thanks bro
Im gonna do everything to get that first job
Got my first OA today pretty hyped 😎
where?
Nice! how is your approach for leetcode. i 'm just using neetcode inconsistently. I've had a few OAs, but im not able to solve majority of the test cases for fang level OAs
i think for other companies im able to solve them closer to easy and some mid level companies
It's for a quant firm in NY
good luck!
Thanks!
I did the Amazon OA a week ago and passed the test cases. Honestly, if you can do the neetcode 150 entirely you should be able to pass most entry-level FAANG OA's
Right now, I have about 70% of the neetcode 150 done
but I also do a few random medium problems on leetcode either through the Amazon List or Google List
You still have access to uni handshake after graduation? Is that normal
Yea my uni allows up to 2 years after grad
Only new grad and entry-level positions
i see, i'm closer to 50% done, but i've been redoing question bc i randomly can't solve questions i've solved before
I don't think i qualify for the internships anymore lol
Yea make sure u solidify the concepts and the patterns in the problem
I usually try to come back to the same problem after a week just to make sure i understand it
cuz if i i remember it, it usually takes like 10 mins or so to finish
I see, I'm staying in college for 1 extra semester cuz i still want to be eligible for internships lol
gl
Are u going back in the fall?
maybe
I think I can but not sure if I go past the credit limit to be considered in state
o-o good luck bro
lol
Your plan is to get an internship for summer right?
Keep looking
also this might be random, but what is your approch to networking
march and april are still good times to apply
yeah, prayin for something rn 🙏
Right now i'm doing cold emails, but my college has a career center with networking services and im planning on using that
I also have a lot of CS friends who graduated from my college and work in good firms right now and they're helping me with referrals
praying for you 🙏
i've been reaching out to friends for referrals, but most companies aren't really looking for junior devs. i also tried to reaching out to recruiters online but they never respond.
Ya thats been the same case for me
but when the companies are looking for junior devs, my referral did get me two interviews
i've messaged like 10 recruiters with 0 responses
i've been looking into gov and defense companies, but everytime i apply its mostly a rejection
the government is a mess rn
my life rn
yeah
right now its really hard to get into government and defense companies cause not only are they cutting staff cuz of trump, but they also have their federal funding cut
yeah, thats the biggest issue
Plus most government and defense companies require security clearance. If you don't have one, it costs them alot of money to get it for you which is why they're reluctant on hiring.
Are u in college still? Or did you graduate?
i'm graduating this may
thanks, sadly im more stressed than happy lol
i hope we all get jobs.
yea its gonna be hard
Ya, just keep grinding. Something will definitely come our way
are you focused maninly in fullstack?
Yea
I specialize much more towards backend tho
I'm learning more react and typescript on Udemy
i see, i was wondering if you have any good resources
What are you looking for?
Are you looking to study the entire full-stack or do you want to learn a particular part of the stack more
i'm planning on trying to learn the entire stack if possible.
bc my projects are all over the place. i've been taking a deep dive into javascript and abut to do some front end project with react to start off. im thing about getting some experience with front end and add on as i go
Honestly i'm not too sure for your case. But, I would recommend the Colt Steele Web Developer bootcamp on Udemy. In the course you make a Full Stack web app using JavaScript. He shows you how to use MongoDB (database), Express (Backend routes), Passport(user login system). You can probably skip through the majority of the course if you already know HTML/CSS/JS.
but its beginner friendly and it costs like 20 bucks lol you can prob find the course for free somewhere online
u can prob look up other courses on udemy or youtube
thanks, i'll def take a look at that. im following a udemy course already
which one are u doing?
i think her name is angela yu "The Complete Full-Stack Web Development Bootcamp"
oo
i was in between that one and colts
i heard they're both similiar and good
but idk if much has changed since i did the course a while back lol
all good, thanks for the info. I hope both of us get jobs soon!
Not sure if this help but this recent reddit post gave links for startups that are hiring
Hope it helps
up to how many years of experience do you apply to? is applying to 5 years of experience too much? It seems most posts are 5 + years
I am looking for streamers for the brand-new CS case opening website, funcs2.com. They offer very streamer-friendly conditions for growth. If you're interested, let's discuss a collaboration
Great progress, Do you use easy apply to apply or only through company website forms?
hey i'm also looking for an entry job as graduate. I haven't really looked into system design nor have i ever gotten a system design interview. can you elaborate of what was expected and how you went about soolving it?
i'm starting to hear many companies asking about system design an i'm not sure where to start.
thank you. ngl wouldn't you think that many new grad wouldn't have that knowledge. i feel that generally ppl with work experience would tested on that? what a mid level company or FAANG level?
also do you know any good reosurces for beginner level system design?
Thanks
