#Should I quit the job I just started to accept another offer?

I just started (3 weeks ago) as an Android Software Engineer at a mid-size company in Texas where I interned at. They pay me 88.5k base / 1.5k signing / 40k RSU over 4 years, but very back heavy.

I just received an offer from Apple for an Android Software Engineer in California where they are offering me 160k / 25k signing / 148.5k RSU over 4 years / relocation package + 8k relocation stipend (I would have to move across the country for the Apple position)

I just graduated this May, so this is my first full time position and I feel like it would be a really bad look to leave it so soon after joining.

Would it make sense to leave the job I just started to join Apple?

im gonna ask you a few questions cause i think this is important

#

dont take any of these questions as an insult

#

but what do you really mean when you say

"idk if its okay to quit so soon" ?

#

i wanna know exactly what you are trying to say there

yeah np i appreciate ur help man
i know it's frowned upon to leave a job so quickly and i feel like many companies don't like seeing that because then they think you won't stay with them and will just jump ship the first chance you get

#

so i'm just wondering if leaving now would hurt me in the future when other companies see that on my resume ig

No one would care, companies can fire you 3 weeks on the job, so you can leave 3 weeks if you want. Do what you want and what is best for your career.

#

It is okay to quit so soon, looks like you are leaning towards apple, I would take it.

If you’re so worried about it you don’t even have to include this company on your resume

"would it make sense" or "should I leave" is a more complex question, as lewdachris has covered

in regards to your concern about leaving being a "bad look" I can say that

  1. no one will know, except your current employer that you intend to be leaving from
  2. even if they did somehow know or find out, only your current employer is going to care
  3. even then, they likely won't even care that much to the point where I could see them rehiring you down the line one day

main factor to consider when including any job or experience on your resume is whether or not you did anything worthwhile. By that I mean if you were to explain what you did in that experience to a hiring manager, then put yourself in that manager's shoes, would that make you go "hey that's relevant experience that I want in a candidate"
