Hi all! I've been sent a contract by a law firm for a full stack role and I want some advice regarding it. I think it sounds reasonable, but I have a few reservations (screenshots of things I'm concerned about - mainly regarding IP and also showed expected working hours bc it might influence IP). I blocked out the company name as best I could.

this sounds like something you should consider bringing up with legal professionals and not with strangers on a discord server
I have got in touch with lawyers, but just wanted some extra opinions while I'm waiting (haven't got anything back yet bc I only just got the contract today and it takes time).
I was mostly wondering if anyone has experienced a contract like it and if they had any issues.
The IP stuff is all pretty standard (except that not all places put restrictions on you getting permission for giving a talk, but you probably should anyway)
The working hours stuff I haven't personally seen. It doesn't give me pause by itself, but I would judge expectations of working hours based on conversations with my prospective manager and co-workers
"We can enter your home to get your computer" seems weird to me, but again would be something to see "does this actually happen?"
Overall my impression is that a lawyer is doing their best to protect the company against litigation by writing up a bunch of contract stuff that isn't really necessary. For instance, the actual process for computers when you leave is probably "we give you a box, you mail it to us", but lawyer was like "JUST IN CASE let's say we could go to your home and pull it, if you're not giving us back our stuff" and it'll never actually get used
There's certainly something to be said about not signing away rights, but in the practicalities of the workplace often the answer is to find out what actually happens rather than what could happen, and base your decisions off that.
OK, thank you!
