Fortune 500, startups, fintech
Depending on how broad you make these categories, companies can fit in multiple categories. What is your goal with trying to categorize them?
Startups. If you have a LinkedIn you should have some messages from recruiters for them
No i didn't get any from startups, not since i started my internship
From what I read and hear, SI/consulting tends to be scammy and/or have very little in the way of funding and good coding practices, which is why I am trying to avoid them
Defense, research tanks.
My first job out of college was as the third eng at a startup. Really nice job actually. Mess around with your LinkedIn settings. There's one that lets recruiters mail you. And there's one that tells them you're open to work. You should be showing up for searches for "software engineer" or something similar. Tweak your profile till you are. Best of luck!
There are some consulting firms that fit that stereotype, and there are some that pay very well
If you’re a fresh grad, understand that you can have target companies that you want to try for, but more than likely you will have to send a flurry of applications to land your first role
