uh some people can sound abrasive
(I know I could be sometimes and learned to tone it down)
but they actually don't look down on you
that's just one possibility
no one is in his head
so we dont actually know
other people can chip in
If we're discussing actual mentorship, that's something that both parties have to enter into. So just stop meeting with him and asking him for advice.
If the question is more about how to deal with this relationship inside your team, then that's a bit of a different thing
However, in my recent performance review, it said that my commitment and hard work have stood out, my teammates noticed I've improved and worked hard and implemented the feedback I got
