Hey I wanted to make a thread to keep track of my progress and stay accountable to my goals. Going to try my best to land a job in early 2023, starting my job search from December and hopefully land a job by April when I graduate. Also turning 20 on Dec 31 so it'd be awesome to start my 20's with a SWE job.
My main goals to get me there are:
- Finish my Computer Science degree at 3.8+ GPA
- Finish Neetcode 150/Learn medium algorithms
- Specialize in web, android, and backend development
For android dev I started by building a database viewing app with a backend, user accounts, and a database for a uni class. After this I want to build a second full-stack app with Kotlin/Spring so I can showcase my java skills. Also following the google android dev course to build my skills.
Next in the web dev area, I'm more competent here since I've worked on Angular/React a lot. I just need to build something cool that showcases my skills. First priority will be creating a portfolio site in React, and then a personal blog to write articles about programming to build credibility for myself. After that I'll focus on a full stack project, probably a small clone of a social media type site like reddit, with the ability to make user posts.
For the algorithms interviews I'm going to start on Neetcode 150. I've been off and on solving easy questions so far but need to move up to mediums now. Going to try to commit to solving 1-2 questions every day and figure out a solid learning process to make it through them and learn the most I can
Finally I need to go from 63 credits currently to 108 credits by Dec and then spend Jan-April earning my last 12 credits at my uni while I'm job-hunting. Have to use a site called study.com and get 8 more classes done, taking about 2 weeks per class. Then complete the google data analysis certificate that will count for 9 credits. These count as transfer credits
I just came back from a week long break so I'm pretty motivated to stick to my plan.
