oof is taking the trading money and going to japan later an option? it's a really tough choice and I personally was considering working abroad for a paycut later, but the time value & career value of trading now seems too good to pass up for me.

you could take the trading offer and then just do semi frequent vacations to japan?
the work culture and attitude towards immigrants is also a large culture shock anyways, so u might enjoy being a frequent visitor over a resident
