your going to lose a lot if not all your free time. Building projects & studying on the side on top of university will take a lot more effort. If you like what you do though it can be pretty fun trying to build stuff your proud of.
im doing a ton of projects, extra uni classes, a full time SWE job, and normal uni and my weeks are just 24/7 grind till i fall asleep and repeat. Up to u if you want that but other people do it and you have to to stay competitive.
Thanks man, this advice means a lot
yeah same i have some health issues that make me feel sick a good portion of the time, but when im feeling healthy most of my day is doing my internship, tutoring ppl in cs, and personal projects + applications to new opportunities
and on those days i do take breaks to eat and watch like 30 min shows, but most of the day is really just grinding
ur 20 and still young so ur fine
just make a list of goals you want to achieve, and work towards completing it
There will always be people better than you, learn to accept it. Also, you're only 20 which is nothing.
I really don't think you have to grind 24/7 to become a dev, I didn't. Some people wanna do that and that's fine, but I would just focus on your studies and make some goals you can work towards like pidge said
working long days every day of the week is a good way to burn out
It's not worth comparing yourself to everyone else's highlights. Just make sure you apply yourself enough that you're employable after college in a job you're OK with. Even a mediocre dev job is a lot better than a vast majority of the other jobs out there. Nothing wrong with being average, you won't be making $500k TC any time soon but you can make a pretty good living being an average dev.
