||it would be funny to think that as Eggman being as smart as he is that he would make his death be broadcasted as his final livestream as a dark joke, for as evil as he is, he cant go out without a small bit of comic relief, and because Stone was the only person that ever cared for him after Gerald rejected him||

That little bit of Live and Learn played on the guitar right at the start is honestly one of my favourite parts of the movie and, like the flashback scene later on, is one of the few parts that I think has some real, considered narrative intention rather than just being "plot! plot! plot!", Jim Carrey bits or its-so-peak anime fights (nothing wrong with that, I think the Super Sonic vs. Super Shadow fight is cool, but you know)
If the opening of a story is it's "mission statement", then just the guitar alone was enough for me to know they'd nailed at least Shadow. I think even in SA2 Shadow can easily be interpreted as just being edgy and evil, but the guitar really highlights from the word "Go" the fact that buried beneath it all is a real sadness and melancholy in his heart. Any time he's not actively doing something, he's probably thinking about Maria, and that emptiness eats him alive until the last second before it's too late. I think that's the core of Shadow's story from SA2 and I can't appreciate enough how much they understood that he wasn't just "Edgy the Hedgey" but an actual character. It's the first thing we learn about him (again, just with like three seconds of acoustic guitar), and highlights the emotional, internal side of his character a heck of a lot more than the series had for any other character beforehand. Shadow really stands apart from the rest of the cast in that way.
Shadow is really the sole reason I think Movie 3 is better than Movie 2. I have plenty of things I dislike about the movie, but all of them pale in comparison to just how much I really love Shadow lol

given how Jeff Fowler had history with the sonic series as far back as Shadow in his 2005 game, and he seems to be a sonic fan as much as many of us or beyond are, there is no chance in hell that both him and the the rest of the team wouldnt try their best to do Shadow justice at all, not to mention, getting Keanu Reeves of all people for his voice gives an extra layer to the characters depth

yea, Shadow is more than just a simple edgy boy, he's very vengeful and angry at the world (most specifically the government) for taking everything he loved and cared about 50 years ago, and he sets out his life's mission to get back at those kind of people that wronged him as the right thing to do, because he's extremely tired at their depravity in his eyes.
but there is a lesson to all this that anger and vengance can blind people easily. ||its like what Sonic said back on the moon, there are no winners with revenge||

Shadow in this movie and even SA2 if you wanna think about is a depressed man with superpowers that has vengeful hatred towards a government that scarred him 50 years ago, and will want to get rid of them by any means necessary, because in his heart, he just misses the only person that ever understood him.
it shows that despite how he is all in red and black and has angry red eyes, believe it or not, beyond that grumpy face, hes not an evil person deep down, and i dont mean it like cliche sympathetic villain kind of way, i mean he is actually just someone that turned out this way due to harsh circumstances out of his control, and you can understand as to why he went on this mission that he set out to do, ||it was short sighted in the longrun for not just Shadow, but GUN's failure to avoid an accident like that in the first place, creating this heated misunderstanding that would lead to Shadow's revenge later on.||

||possibly, if time travel is involved as a plot point for this movie, it makes me think that Amy screwed up in having her quill be used to power up Metal Sonic and have all these clones made as a consequence, and maybe the idea is to go back to prevent this from happening||
||a consistent thing going on in these movies (& Knuckles) is that there is a theme going on of having quills being used to power things, Sonic's quill beside the Eggman taste gag was used in movie 1 and a bit of movie 2, Knuckles quill was used to power weapons in the knuckles show, and in movie 3, Shadow's quill was used to slow down aging for Gerald, or be put in containers that caused Maria's death during Project Shadow.
It shows that alien creatures like Shadow, Knuckles, and Sonic all are born with chaos energy, which is noticable when their eyes glow and get electricity, the chaos energy from Sonic's quill when Eggman studied it in movie 1 was said to be "unlimited" in power too, so it can be an optional power source besides the emeralds.||
||basically after all that tangent, that pink electricity blast looks suspicious, like if Amy might have done something dumb in the past with letting her power be given for scientific creation, which ended up causing a recipe for disaster and she had to survive against all these metal sonic clones that are everywhere||

||Introduce Team Chaotix. Play Team Rose into the plot too, and then we'd have Team Sonic, Team Rose and Team Chaotix..||

Ok, so ||where are the Chaos Emeralds? No, where are they?||
I propose: ||That the Shadow the Hedgehog movie will follow a plotline similar to the 2005 game, in which Black Doom will be tied in to the origins of Shadow, AND Shadow will go searching for the Chaos Emeralds like in the game.||
So what if Sonic Movie 4 gets released in which ||Shadow is not present. I feel like we need to give him some time to breathe, and honestly, having 6 characters feels a bit too much, (So, T, K, A, Sh, Metal). So the final big fight climax would be Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy against Neo Metal Sonic, BUT to truly defeat Metal, Shadow appears at the end of the movie having returned from his own mission (the plotline of his movie) and gives Sonic // the main cast the Chaos Emeralds so they can go Super to win the fight?||
So ||the two movies would be connected.||

||given with what Shadow took Sonics advice at movie 3 and decided to do what he could to save the earth with their proposed thought to be sacrifices with Eggman, and since time travel elements are going to be a factor for movie 4, i think Eggman AND Shadow both got sent through time after the explosion happened, Remember that Shadow can stop time and even once can make time travel portals with Chaos Control from games like Shadow 2005 and Sonic 06.
Plus, Sonic 4's post credits suggests that it happens right after, like literally just after Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles went through all that and returned to their race, Sonic 4 will serve as a part 2 to this story, explaining where Shadow & Eggman ended up, and how Eggman managed to succeed in enslaving humanity, and would lead to creating Metal Sonic's, how that ties to Amy meeting Sonic, and everything else.||

||i dont think its a good idea to write out Tails and Knuckles completely, because they matter in the story in a sense to where they tie to Sonic, but i do think Sonic in movie 4 should learn how to survive by himself when he has no Tails, Knuckles or Donut Lord by his side, and he has to mentally mature himself in case of a terrible threat like in movie 3 or movie 4||

||Shadow being in Movie 3 when SA2 happens way later than 3&K would be seen as too early as well, but they went for it anyways, remember that the movies cant go on as long as the games can, plus they are making their own lore based off the games too||
||if anything Shadow will get his own spinoff after Movie 4 has concluded as the second half to what Sonic 3 did, maybe Tails too as a backstory spinoff, and Amy too for another, and Knuckles Season 2, theres a lot here to tackle that movie 4 wont do||
||Shadow saving the world and save the timeline after Movie 3 and 4 would allow him to decide after taking Sonics advice, he thanks him, and would go his own way, riding off into the sunset and lead to the spinoff where we can get Black Doom lore and explain more of Shadow's alien roots||

personally speaking ||i would prefer if Metal Sonic and Amy would both share a year together, because they both were created in the same game of Sonic CD, and Movie 4 will have focus for both of them in the story.
On top of that, it would also set itself apart from doing the simple year of "only one single character" that they did with Shadow. ||

i mean hey, look at it this way ||in Sonic 1, they wanted Super Sonic but they scrapped it to be reused in the 2nd movie, and in movie 3, there was a scrapped concept of time travel involved, but that got pushed over to Movie 4, so potentially, these scenes that were cut, they can be reused and repurposed, switch Shadow out with Metal, and change the location.||
||the influencer concept can also be done in a more dark and twisted way for movie 4 where Eggman rules the world and does dictator broadcasts, but treats it like a influencer to hit how dystopian and sterile everything has rotted into from his uprising of enslaving everyone, he would become essentially Aku from Samurai Jack||

So i was watching a silly YT video covering the Sonic fandom as of late (with a hefty amount of character shipping) and saw this fanart popped up and thought to myself how cool it would've been if Shadow returned for the 4th movie with a scar (that he recieved from withstanding the explosion during his sacrifice) in his design. Obviously it won't happen because of how safe the series tends to play given it's audience but just imagine how cool it would've been......

What is you guys' favourite moment from the 3rd movie asides from the fight scenes?
Me personally is the quality time montage between Ivo and Gerald. Watching Ivo making up for lost time and reliving a childhood that he never had, albeit goofy is just so oddly emotional to me. Even though none of the experiences are really real, seeing Ivo feeling genuine joy for once makes me really empathetic towards him. And the scene with Agent Stone coming to the realization that he's losing his beloved doctor to the manipulative grandpappy is just so 💔 💔 💔
All of it culminates to Gerald's betrayal at the very end, revealing that it was all just one massive act of manipulation to gain Ivo's trust to his advantage, tearing down all of Ivo's hope for a chance at a happy family that would understands him 💔 💔 💔 💔 💔

There was one scene I liked for a kinda obscure reason: When they're trying to infiltrate GUN, and she says things are "Getting Ultra Nasty." Because I was watching in Puerto Rico with Kia, it had Spanish subtitles, which clued me in that the Spanish maintains the acronym (even though I couldn't make out what it was exactly) and I just thought that was kinda neat.

one moment i really liked was when Knuckles warned Sonic about the master emerald during their argument after Donut Lord was sent to the hospital, he did mention this earlier in the film, and later in the movie, Shadow criticizes sonic for leaving his friends behind to fight him out of revenge, he did the same kind of mistake that Shadow did, which also was a good moment too

what i like about that moment is that despite both of them warming up to each other after their fights in the 2nd movie, it wasnt completely gone, they both can get heated under certain circumstances
the eggman and gerald stuff was funny and also interesting for these versions of the characters, i cant forget about the famous "oh ivo, you're no maria" line

They did Knuckles' character justice as always. He was never inherently dumb, he's just naïve and is socially awkward but when it comes to important matters, he knows best how to act and counsel his friends when they lost themselves

the movies did a good job of making Knuckles be more of a responsible character, even in the show with Wade, Knuckles has to toughen Wade up to win that bowling tournament later on
ooh, that reminds me, the payoff to that show of having Knuckles give wade the master emerald for a little while until Sonic steals it from him out of his obsession with revenge is a great moment

but i know this goes into the fighting a bit, one detail that i like that did happen sorta twice in the same fight is how Shadow punches Sonic out of his Super form, and then later on, Sonic did the same thing to punch Shadow out of his super form when he crashes into the moon.
Knuckles did the same thing to Eggman's super form in the 2nd movie, which all of this was one big callback to Sonic 3's opening of Knuckles punching Super Sonic

I really hope this doesn't become a common trope later on because the ability to knock someone out of a Super form just sucks all of the hype and tension that goes into the form itself. I can excuse Knuckles because he and his clan has a history with it and he is canonically strong enough to be able to punch through it during his very first introduction in the games. I can excuse Shadow because it can be explained with his overwhelming amount of chaos energy that can coincides with the emeralds itself. I just hope that they don't turn it into a tradition going forward in future movies

its hard to say for sure, but considering how Sonic got to use Super Sonic in two movies, and he is probably warming up more to the transformation, i think he should be more wise and mindful to not let anyone land clean hits on him to knock him back to base form
but its weird because in movie 2, Super Sonic blocks a punch and makes quick work of Eggmans robot
but in movie 3, Super Sonic got hit by Shadow and later with the Space Colony Ark's laser, Shadow eventually got knocked out of it after the explosion, but it does seem like Sonic was under a lot of pressure to maintain that form, but Shadow is able to hold onto it longer due to having a stronger, and a bit colder drive to keep it going
plus, Sonic seeked out the master emerald out of purpose of revenge, he possibly didnt think this through, and his mind was clouded to which left him wide open to be hit.
i propose an idea for the 4th movie or later on, that whenever Sonic goes super or something, they should take a page out of dragon ball where Sonic's form briefly flashes between normal and super to highlight the urgency that Sonic has to take this seriously or he will lose the form, and that forces him to become more of the invunerable, more concentrated Super Sonic that we are used to, ideally maybe similar to the Unleashed opening for Super Sonic

Part of me wanted Eggman's legacy in the Sonic movie to just end there because that ending to his character is just too perfect to be dabbled with but if Jim is still willing to reprise his role as Eggman then i best hope there'd be some timeline shenanigans involved in future movie, considering it's implying a Sonic CD-esque direction with the two new characters that are being paired with in the after-credits reveal
