#Mario RPGs (Mario & Luigi, Paper Mario, ...)
1 messages · Page 3 of 1
I never did lol
I always turned off my switch after hitting a save block
So during that section I never closed the game
I was too invested to quit lol
I remember discovering that title screen recently. It's so cool how they made it so dynamic and so far into the game as well
Yeahhh
It changes with every sea and the progress of the story near the endgame that you're on, it's a really cool touch
I swear ||Reclusa|| gives me such a strong Undertale/Deltarune boss vibe it's insane
You talking about the title screen where ||Reclusa randomly shows up near the camera and starts mocking you||, right? Such a good title screen
Yes, all of the interactions with him that i've seen thus far. His design, his animations and the way he talks makes him fit right in UT/DR
Also that was the thing that jumpscared me lol, ||the vibe and a lack of the usual cheerful music's already giving me the chills and then he just showed up outta nowhere||
I am 100% sure someone is going to make a mod of him in UT/DR
Partners in Time
Yes, i also had that in mind when it comes to dark Mario content
||Bonding Can, filled. Side quests, all done||. Praying that the ||Soli-Tree|| isn't another final dungeon that i have to go through before the boss otherwise imma have to delay the finale till another tomorrow because this has gone on for wayyy too long now and my time's running out
God....
Whatever, i'm pushing thru
I'm not even gonna bother with small fry enemies
||Soli-Tree|| is also about the same length as ||Fortress Zokket||, but at least you're doing something different
I can't with this amount of enemies and the ||ufo|| bastards being especially hard to dodge in the overworld....
I just dozed off while doing a puzzle LMAO
Tbf it was around 3AM when i did it
Okay, finishing it tonight FR FR this time (100% real) (no clickbait)

I'm actually a little disappointed that ||the last piece of the Bonding Can isn't from Mario and Luigi themselves, i was so confident that it'd be the case||
||When they're hinting at bonds that stems from nemesis i thought it'd be something like Bowser and Starlow or Bowser and his army. Not the Extension Corps lol
But at least we got to see more of their character being fleshed out from it||
||Speaking of, i adore the Bowser and Starlow's little side quest, it's a direct follow-up and a callback to BiS' ending, it's super sweet and felt like home to Mario and Luigi fans.||
Game Composer reacts to and analyzes Heatfreeze Island. This is my favorite island theme from the new Mario & Luigi game M&L Brothership. One of its key elements is simplicity. I'd argue that this is one of the tunes that sounds the most like classic Mario & Luigi. How good is it?
Super Mario Bros. Wonder Analyses: https://www.youtube.com/playl...
Actually goated music
Okay time to lock in
The minor key they wrote Heatfreeze Island's theme in is definitely interesting. But interestingly, the theme of Lottacoins' Island's building written in the same key as Heatfreeze Island has a more memorable melody for me. (ngI, I started humming that building theme while playing through Heatfreeze Island last time I went there lol)
||Never have i seen the Mushroom Kingdom and it's cheery vibe being such a big red flag before||
This game is giving me a false sense of security and i don't like it
||that gave me an idea that this uncomfortableness would make Mario drop the Italian accent and goes for a more serious brooklyn accent "hold on Luigi, stay on guard for now, it may not be our average kingdom either."||
||but i think because of how much the brothers have been through an apocalyptic hellscape, going back to their normal cheery kingdom is a huge whiplash in tone||
||Yeah, like all of this is just too good to be true, the Toad's dialogue are overly optimistic and lacking personality. When you goes up to Peach, they beg you to talk to her, even pointing direction like "You're almost there, Peach is just a couple of inches away from you, go talk to her!". And not to mention we still have the responsibility of saving Concordia from Reclusa. But Luigi look like he's willing to settle down because the guy has been through enough with his fragile self lol||
||Luigi has seen too much for a guy his age in this entire RPG series||
||from Cackletta to the Shroob invasion to going inside Bowser and finishing off Fawful, to entering Dreams, and now went through the apocalypse, yeah i would be jaded too after doing all that||
||hes been through worse than his main game counterpart who at worst, went through the mansion trilogy,||
||the music's breaking up...
||
||everyone's glitching out...||
||we're in a pokemon game...||
||yup... Mario and Luigi's been captured, like i expected as much||
||the imagery of it is quite disturbing||
||the cake was a lie||
tbh, as soon as ||I saw the trees, rocks and mushrooms, I knew we were in the Mushroom Kingdom and I already suspected Mario and Luigi were caught by Reclusa's flowers, which became more and more apparent the longer I played in Peach's Castle courtyard||
||WHITE WOMAN JUMPSCARE||
I've... finally finished Brothership
Around 60 hours and 50 minutes of in-game playtime 😂
It's definitely not mid, but it's also not the peakest thing ever. It has apparent flaws but at the end of the day it is a good game :)
Where would you put it in terms of the series overall?
Ehhh it's a bit difficult for me because i have not played Dream Team and Paper Jam yet also it's been years since i've played BiS and PiT to properly rank them. But if i have to try then it'll be
1 - Bowser's Inside Story (Fan's favourite for obvious reasons, also playing as Bowser is still one of the coolest thing you can do in a Mario game)
2 - Brothership (A bit of a recency bias. It's probably the most visually pleasing game in the series, the pacing is messy but it had a great story)
3 - Superstar Saga (A classic, although the story narrative is all over the place, i had a soft spot for it for being my childhood favourite)
4 - Partner in Time (My recollection memory of this game is currently foggy so idk, also i remember there are some places here and there that felt visually incomplete to me when compared to BiS)
5 - Paper Jam (I haven't played the game yet but i'll just put it here because it's universally agreed upon as being the weakest one in the series due to it's blandness and an uninspiring misopportuned flop)
paper jam has the best combat in the series hands down
doesnt make it... better
but it very much has that
Snips stop what you are doing rn go play peak team
My broke ass don't got no 3ds or a PC in my possession rn 😭
do the infinite money glitch, it saves you so much time
Woah there, sorry but this isn't 2012
I have an unwritten vow as a proper gamer to not use cheat codes on games that aren't old pokemon no more, especially one that i haven't even played yet, acclaimed peak at that
ah i see, well you have the option there just in case, you probably wont see much use of it now, but i'll tell you that you will get desperate one day, and then BAM, its probably not a guarantee, but it would be really funny to see
Nah i like grinding, it's good time management for one who had very little of that
But if i were to not get enough money to buy good gears or items then i'm up for a challenge, love me a little bit of that
gotcha, just dont end up like Yoshi who tried to do the glitch, the government still has him as their target

i aint never see mario get this pissed before bro was gonna KILL HIM
He just ||mentions the mushroom kingdom once|| and ||Mario wants to obliterate his TV face in half||
||Mario was fine with everything until he mentioned going to the mushroom kingdom, he mama'd his last mia with that one, Mario is going to deck you in the face until you are gone||
||you DONT f- with his home turf, because that also means messing with his delicious spaghetti or the cakes peach makes, and Mario will kill anyone who tries to ruin his love for food||
||Mario: "mama mia, you are causing too much chaos!"
Reclusa: "Maybe i should pay the mushroom kingdom a visit"
Mario: drops the italian voice and speaks in a deep, serious brooklyn voice "Luigi, we have to kill this guy"||
||Mario:

epic goku scream from battle of gods
Anyone think Brothrship will run better on Switch 2?
Most likely?
Most games should be running better on Switch 2 i feel like
But what do i know
I know xeno 2 and pokemon scarlet and violet needs it

Nothing can save scvi
watch it run worse on the switch 2 as a result
I did think about that, but outside of loading screens and the big frame rate drop at a later point in the game, I don't think we'll see a big change in the experience of the game. It won't solve the pacing issue of the game unfortunately.

I'm so excited for Mario and Luigi: Brothership.
I had to do this cause I kept seeing that meme go around.
The Ok Good Great Excellent effects were done by @lumi_wish
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjE4HxAXtew
The guy...
I like the part where Mario and Luigi said: "Now we'll show you the true power of our Brothership and then after that the villain goes: "This is... So this is Mario and Luigi's Brothership", explodes into a million pieces and then it hard cut into the game's credits. Absolute cinema
who up brother they ship
I can hear this drawing
I never considered how absolutely buff Bowser is 💀
I found a really weird glitch in Mario and Luigi Brothership. I believe I mistimed the 2nd/3rd Jump on an attack boosted back-atcha attack with the Master boosts equipped? Strange stuff. Haven’t seen this happen to anyone else so I thought I’d post it. Nothing drastic happened to the game it just looked super goofy. Luigi went back to normal aft...
i dont remember my luigi being that stretchy
It’s Waluigi
The color choice for the confetti during this cutscene is really gruesome.
Look at what I've got!
Nice. Have fun, bas!
Where's the mittens??
Also i like that Mario and Luigi are wearing scarves of each other's color, very cute

Mario and Luigi: Horror Hermanos
【QRT of vids that go hard (@vidsthatgohard):】
'you’re in a horror movie'
Is this really my humor now
short answer? yes. long answer? ANAMATATAMBEHRHEMAHAH, YADADBUDADADRAGOU
we are so back
TTYD remake has sold over 2.06 million copies
120k copies in 3 months after its release
We're continuing the series with this one 🗣️‼️
also
3.3 million on the Mario RPG remake
HOLY
on par with Origami King, Super Paper and Bowsers inside story
i knew that the classic Mario RPG's being revived from the dead and faithfully done for the switch would sell like hotcakes
aside from it being a really amazing faithful remake to an iconic game, i also just really love for its accessibility
glad to see them selling really great
like this is one of the few RPGs were everyone can simply pick it up and enjoy it
I have no idea Color Splash's marketing status were that pitiful LMAO
It's even worse than Paper Jam and it's sayin' somethin
and well, shocking how something that wouldve been 20 hours long and even its completion time doesnt reach 15 hours
its opening week only sold 65k copies
im one of those 870K lol
i know this sounds unlikely but at the same time, all these spinoff rpgs coming back at all was unlikely too at one point, but here we are. i propose a thought for Switch 2 in the future if they are up for it
the long awaited Super Mario RPG 2, a new Paper Mario that returns back to the classic style from 64/TTYD, and a new M&L continuation game (post Brothership)
i say that as they are starting to find their footing back at being alive, and it will take some time till they get their groove back fully to go for these new titles, but its a start
its clear that it was a really anticipated remake
For a couple seconds the gears didn't turn in my head and made me thought TOK stands for Zelda's Tears of the Kingdom lol
people figured or had a feeling that Paper Mario or M&L would get a new title somewhere in the future, even when both of them were at their lowest, Paper Mario was struggling and the M&L series went on hiatus after AlphaDream went bankrupt
pfffff
but no one could have imagine the original Mario RPG to return in a remake, that took me by surprise
part of me made me think it was the first letters of my name
LOL
holy crap, King Olly was a discord user this whole time, and liked Oshawott a lot
and probably hates the Toad species
Racism
racism lore in mario be like
not bad, considering the GameCube release did 1.91 million units, but it wasn't enough to surpass the 3 million of The Origami King
Compared to the other rpgs...yes
Compared to other paper mario games...also yes
But on itself, it's a 7/10 game
It’s one of the best looking switch games imo
Its the first game of the "Forbidden Trilogy" that i actually managed to complete
I gotta say
literally everything outside of the battling part
I enjoyed
Im proly just a dum dum but the fights were genuinely not fun for me
but aside from all that, pretty much everything else they nailed it
its the most visually appealing Paper Mario game yet, the humor is on point, music is obviously amazing
Finding toads was honestly the best part about it
still am obsessed with the part where it just turns into literally Wind Waker for some reason
Combat is unique but it’s yeah
There’s still no major incentive for battles
I like what they are going for and you do genuinely want coins if you’re trying to get collectibles
I guess it’s better than what came before?
I was aboutta make a joke about Luigi nose measure but then it started to become genuine
Why does art always gotta be like this bruh 😭
cat
Cinema
It impresses me how people are able to wrote down their gibberish into actual sentences lol
how do you think they directed Charles in the studio
Was that an actual fun fact and not just him improvising?
i dont know im just being a smartass
You may be a smartass but you're far from being a cleverass
you either a smart fella or a fart smella
Ive been recently
trying to 100% Origami King
4 years after ive already beaten the main story and beated the final boss
gotta say that i am more of a fan of finding the toads and the treasures that ive missed in my original playthrough because im just happy that i dont have to deal with the fighting lol
tho one of the treasures i need to obtain is in Toad Town and my only form of getting it is by doing Boss fight refights
since i recently started replaying this game i have to admit that i got more used to the battling system, but i overall had a much more positive look on the battle system thats used for the enemies
the boss fights however i ended up having a much more negative reaction towards them because of said battle system
theres a simple nitpick that i have for them
this
If they simply removed the timer in the boss fight battle system then i wouldve preferred them alot more
there'd be no challenge at all without the timer. you could just set up the perfect path every turn.
i personally enjoyed the battle system but i understand why it's controversial. however, simply removing the timer without changing anything else would make it worse.
My goodness that is pretty
Man that’s awesome
Nice lol
This is so peak
ok now that I've beaten Brothership I need to ask, I've seen kind of a lot of different opinions on the matter:
on a scale of 1-10, where 1 is "I could beat this with my eyes closed" and 10 is "actually just a rage game", how hard did you guys find the game?
Early in the game 4/10
The other half 8/10
For me at least
A lot of us do agree it might be the hardest game out of all of tbem tbh
for me, the end of Brothership was a 5 or 6/10. There were some moments when I died to some bosses, but usually I would beat it on my second or third try. Battles were long, but gameplay was fun enough that I didn't mind it.
I should also say that prior to Brothership I haven't played a Mario & Luigi game in a long time
It's between 6 and 7 for me, definitely one of the harder game in the series but still completely doable. However the difficulty can be heavily neutralized if you can take advantage of the plugs effectively, they gave you a lot of useful, sometimes outright broken tools at your disposal. I just happened to not rely on them too much because i respect any kind of challenge that comes my way.
The most difficulty that i've had with the game is definitely the boss rematches, my smug underleveled ass coming at the 3rd rematch got humbled real hard lmao
The difficulty on the final boss is honestly pretty underwhelming imo
I watched a playthrough of a Youtuber and they defeated the final boss in like 3 or 4 turns and it's just their casual playthrough
I felt a little embarrassed for the game 😭
Oh yeah, the plugs definitely made you overpowered. I used them effectively through all the boss fights. But had I not used them, I definitely would have put the difficulty at 8 or 9
How self-destructive would you be to do a challenge run for this game without plugs lol
It's the same as doing Splatoon 3's Side Order without any hacks
Lmao
I really have to get back to Brothership
Battles are lowk less engaging than previous games I think that’s my main reason
i played the whole game without plugs because i didn't want it to be too easy. sure it made the game harder but it was far from anything i'd call "self-destructive"
... i think i need to replay dream team LMFAO
this is roughly how I found it -- more along a 4/5 out of 10 for me, I never died more than once to any boss (only exception being the ||Bob-Omb Monster Maniac|| side quest but that one's kind of a special case) but I would not consider it to be a hard game
I'm really interested about people saying it's the hardest in the series -- I'd only ever played Dream Team before Brothership and I explicitly remember that game kicking the absolute daylights out of me. ig I was not very good at games when I was 10
Tbf dream team also explicitly has a hard mode
100% I did not pick hard mode

So yeah, Brothership was fun
‘s about right
It was hype though
||Funny experience, when I got Mario’s final Bros Attack I didn’t realize you’re supposed to aim the reticle at the end, but even if you miss the enemy you still get an excellent for getting all the planets so I thought I was doing it right and the attack just sucked||
||Didn’t realize my mistake until halfway up the Solitree||
Reviving the chat
Cus im here to say that
Im almost done my journey of 100%ing Origami King
I just did a Shy guys finish last perfect game and all thats left is the little ringer minigame located in toad town
I just wanna mention that
Why does this game have a banger ass ost
One of the best boss themes i heard in recent mempry, and it plays when fighting a stapler
Oh shoot i forgor that i can document my TTYD playthrough here
So uhhh i decided to take on the Pit of 100 Trials last night before going into Chapter 7
And on the 98th floor i randomly encountered two freakin golden Amaze Dayzee
★ Video of the day: https://youtube.com/shorts/KCcQ2x0fja0
★ Click here to Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo_oCp7TkpGIi6vOVIneL9A
I havent completed the pits yet
I went as far as level 95
But i noticed i was lowkey weak, even after beating the game
I tried to make a quick work of them with Bobbery's Bob-ombast and Art Attack but failed to knock out the second one with the afromentioned Special Move
The last 20 floors has the toughest monsters in the game
And they freakin hit me with a 20 BASE POWER SING ATTACK and then putted me and my partner to sleep on top of that, which sealed my fate
Thank god TTYD allowed me the option to restart a level after a Game Over
I hated Shy Guys finish last btw,
Especially level 3 of Bath Math and Ninji Skills
Both gave me no choice but to use my phone to record
I thought for a moment that the encounter with the enemy on floor 98th would've been rerolled with a different set of enemies but no, the two golden Amaze Dayzee is still there
I took liberties this time around and only primarily focus on those two yellow buffoons with Art Attack instead of circling around every enemy on the battlefield
And then made quick work of them
And guess what they rewarded me with...
Holy freakin moly
Yea
I also barely gained enough star point (50) to level up once again before the final floor with the boss, which is EXTREMELY convenient to me
I went into this pit at only like lv18, i came out of it at 26...
The rest of the game is gonna be cakewalk...
Also i first-tried the entire pit in one sitting...
The last 50 floors honestly got me sweating a little
And my perfectionist ass wanted me to spend some turns with Goombella to Tattle the enemies for the gallery lol
Which made the battles slightly harder than they need to be
What does bro mean by this
||is there like a rematch with Bonetail??||
||That is even harder??||
||Well i suppose Bonetail was never really that difficult to begin with||
im just saying its not a one and done thing
👀
||Bonetail kind of a joke yeah||
oh my god we need paper mario OSTs on NSO music
out of curiosity do you know about the clear game achievements
Yes
I only have one left to complete
Theres a little battle area in Toad town where you can do stuff like practices your action commands, blocks but mainly theres boss fight refights and a little minigame where you solve ring puzzles
I did the refights but i havent done the speed ring puzzles
Which is solve at least 16 of them in under a 100 second time limit
oh and the puzzles are randomized
Oh you talkin but ttyd
No this is TOK
I hated that one
you get 2-3 achievemnts after you clear the game
I only did 4
But it did improve my regular battles doing it
Before i gave up
It's all about pattern recognition
this is what i was talking about
well i pretty much got everything except the speed ring trophy
oh and i guess the max hp upgrades
I will soon complete TTYD tho
all thats left is the aforementioned pits
The new bosses they added
like 5 or 6 tattle logs
and all the recipes
Also this theme's kinda goated ngl
https://youtu.be/j9aTPDS1BGs
Really shivering my timbers
I mean the remake OST in general bangs
Yeah they did the soundtrack justice
The puni match theme sounds so silly in the remake I love it
This is one of my personal favourite overworld theme (so far), the stutters really stimulates my autistic brain

The second round in the Pit of 100 Trials might actually gonna be harder for me because of my more limitted stat refill from the level ups, which i've been heavily rely on to keep my characters in shape lol
I'm gonna revisit it after chapter 7 is done
Depends because ||you can revisit it anytime BUT you want to revisit it after a certain point||
Hmmm
Okay please spoil me on this lol
I wanna make sure i don't miss out on anything in my revisit because of me getting impatient to tackle it again
I’ll spare some details but
||yes there is a new boss that replaces bonetail||
||there are some conditions for it to spawn||
But idk how to explain without spoiling bc it’s funny if you don’t know
Huh
Like it’s funny when you find it yourself not that im making fun of you for not knowing

Am i sure to trigger it during my casual playthrough through the story?
Or is there like a sidequest or hidden stuff i should do?
Oh
So what I said still stands
But I forgot it’s post game
I thought it was main story because uou can technically trigger the boss the spawn in the main game
Wait can you still stroll around the areas after the final boss or should you need to reload your save file after you beat the final boss?
Sorry i'm asking a lot here lol
I am a very paranoid gamer
Gotcha
I'll postpone my revisit till the post game then
I'll say this, it doesn't spawn until the game tells you to but I also don't think you'll figure it out on your own unless you're a certain type of player
(But yeah don't go back in unless you want to waste your time until you get an in game email telling you something's been spotted in the bottom floor of the pit or something like that)
When it comes to the pits
Im a simple guy
Shoutouts to Movers.
00:00 - Pit of 100 Trials Theme Upper Level (Type A)
02:08 - Pit of 100 Trials Theme Upper Level (Type A & B)
04:16 - Pit of 100 Trials Theme Upper Level (Type B)
05:20 - Pit of 100 Trials Theme Lower Level (Type C)
06:24 - Pit of 100 Trials Theme Lower Level (Type C & D)
08:32 - Pit of 100 Trials Theme Lower Level (Type D)
And im overall a big fan of the main theme of the pits
Some hardcore fans have a more nitpicky/critical take on the OST of the remakes
I personally prefer like 1 or 2 tracks from the original over the remixes but
Overall i will take the new versions
Any day of the week
Yeah some people are just blinded by nostalgia
It's not perfect but the remixes are overall superior
Doopliss' battle theme in the remake was genuinely amazing
Had that balance of genuinely unsettling chaotic horror while also being an over the top boss theme
And i can say the same with this one
They pretty much captured the vibe of being in a mysterious, atmospheric, puzzling, catacomb that does feel like you are traveling through a dungeon with spiritual yet dangerous aura
You wanna know something
Im always tackling the pit of 100 trials while its cloudy/raining
Idk why
good vibes tbf
agreed
And adding unique themes for different chapters + bosses that deserved it like ||Crump||, ||Gloomtail|| and ||Bonetail|| especially. Really nice bit of extra effort

Okay, this is peak
https://youtu.be/UkouZNl823Y
New favourite, no doubts
And the fact that it's different on every floor?!
Finally got around to beating Brothership
I can’t lie the ||bonds backtracking section after hyping myself up for Zocket was a pretty miserable experience which I did not enjoy…||
||But I’d say thankfully the final area and boss pretty much made up for that. Soli-tree had a few annoying rooms but other than that I had a better time than expected. Couldn’t have ended a ton better I think with what they had going||
Just initial impressions but tldr uhhh pretty good
seems about right
Nice to see all the main characters from all the games
WE LOVE JAPAN‼️
Mario speaking his Italian gibberish into a microphone for a festival is the funniest idea to me
Reviving this thread
For a reason
👀
Youll see just gimme a second
Ok actually give me more than just a second
No
Alright sorry for taking a while
Im back to playing Bowsers Inside Story
And it has come to my attention that i guess young me was apparently trying to speedrun the game because omg
I missed alot of stuff
No wonder i was struggling with the final boss, i was heavily underleveled
So uh yea
Ive been doing the challenges
Some of them are fun but some of them omg
My hands hurt
I hate the Jump Helmet
I got B rank in Super Bouncer, You Who Cannon and Jump Helmet
Japanese Paper Mario artists are on a whole different level
