So apparently if you collect lifmunk effigies. And level yourself up. It reduces your catch rate. And i think there might be something true to that

I know the meme is always "Pokémon but with guns" but you never really had this utility of for example base-building, deploying your mons, etc. The thing that made it similar is the dubiously acquired designs (yes they are carbon copies) and you throw ball to release or catch. Stuff like "Oh you can glide!" was in so many other games already, so idk if it's "Pokémon with guns" or just a Survival Game with Pokémon inhabiting it rather lmao
The boss fights were interesting, finding the ressources where you can station your mons and then just upgrading and crafting more
For the original question, I'd say play with friends and have fun. For me the experience was more comparable to ARK if you played that, in the sense of "Oh, I need something to cool my freezer ..." and then you find an ice mon to do the job for you.
