But yeah the game design philosophies for keyboard and hardpad play are very different from each other

I have way more experience with ddr and stuff than I do with keyboard focused games so I prefer to chart that way even if I can only play it on keyboard

Been tempted as of late to get into Muse Dash, and wanted to ask,
If anyone here's played it, how is it?
And is the DLC needed to get the full experience, or can you just play the original set and be fine with just that (for starting out, at least)?

Will pass the mic to @junior harness but I quite enjoy it! From memory the base content is perfectly fine, 50 odd tracks iirc but you can pick up several hundred more with a one-off purchase
It's not super hard to pick up but there's definitely plenty of options in difficulty too so pretty flexible on that front

If you want to try a game with a similar playstyle without paying anything yet I really recommend UNBEATABLE [white label], it's a demo for an in-development game and also uses the two-lane system although slightly differently so it might be good for gauging how you like that sort of system (also I just love the music & art direction for UNBEATABLE so I would recommend it regardless lol)

To put it in perspective, the dlc gives you, like, over 400 songs, and it updates fairly often. It has tons and tons of variety, but that doesn't mean that the base game won't be diverse; I still to this day have quite a few song from base I think are absolute bops. There is also a free song of the week, meaning one random dlc song will become available to you if you are just playing base game.
Gameplay is easy to get a hang of, but can definitely ramp up in difficulty on harder songs (sometimes good difficulty, and sometimes Freedom Dive difficulty, the game does have some of the infamously difficult rhythm game songs). It's also pretty easily customizable control-wise.
You can choose a character to play as, a companion character who can give you fun little upgrades during the game, and there are even a few special colab characters you can play as (from cytus, groove coaster, touhou, Hatsune Miku, etc)
The only bummer thing about it is that you can't play as a few of the special collab characters without paying for a separate character dlc, which also contains a few songs in each pack. The base DLC will still update with more songs, it's just those few collab songs you'll be missing without.

Tl;dr its a banger, but oooo you wanna play as hatsune miku so bad oooooooo

Even with base, there's still a good selection of songs that be guaranteed to be hits
Have heard that you're able to assign multiple buttons to the two paths for this as well
My only knowledge of this game be with several tracks from Master difficulty mainly just from gameplay, so 'tis good that it ends up being an easy game to learn quick with Madelinehaha
And have heard a lot of Unbeatable; will check that one out first then~

In Muse Dash, have been able to complete the tutorial stage, though the achievement for this doesn't unlock even with that thonk
Is there anything else needed in order to officially "complete" the tutorial? Or is it just a bug from the game?
