basically i was thinking of a gadget that when you're over the speed limit it starts beeping and maybe it could have a little screen telling you the limit (would save me so many times as i tend to get distracted)

It's the United States system for automatic train protection, so if you run through a red signal, if there's a misaligned switch, overspeed, etc. it applies the brakes.
