yea, my idea is it just to add some sizzeling steam here and there on some components to make the engines look more alive :3
i dont know if thats even possible or how time intensive this would be but suggesting it cant hurt ig and i would reeaaalllly love to see it at some point

Devs have mentioned they will add particles to working appliances (so dynamo, air pump).
There is already a random particle effect but it's hidden.

The random ones yes, but only for the S282, and we'll, they're random, so they never come from a specific place.
So they feel a bit out of place instead of proper leaking.

This would be so awesome. If you stand beside the S282 or S060 in VR it doesn’t feel alive this would make such a difference, I think. Though performance is definitely something to look out for. However, chimneys in industrial areas already admit plenty of particles so I am hopeful that this is achievable.

i think sound is important too, as i've seen IRL even locos that barely leak at all can feel alive when you stand next to them
the cracking of the fire, slight hissing sound from invisible leaks, dropplets from a few places, the song of boiling water inside the boiler, metal expanding, etc

yes but in terms of function afaik it's set up as an injector
it does not have the feedwater heating system like on the 282
