Centralized traffic control (CTC) is a form of railway signalling that originated in North America. CTC consolidates train routing decisions that were previously carried out by local signal operators or the train crews themselves. The system consists of a centralized train dispatcher's office that controls railroad interlockings and traffic flow...

this is what remote dispatch helps do. though a switch room in the game itself to set a route would also be a good idea. maybe have one at each office?
That would be awesome.
Thats a nice feature for multiplayer.
Maybe next major game Update?
multiplayer is not on the table. only way is via mods when they update to the new versions
@atomic flame happy birthday
multiplayer is planned to be attempted! but bear in mind it may or may not succeed
Not even just for multiplayer
Being able to ask an AI dispatcher to route you from, say, the east iron mine to the steel mill would be nice
that should be a difficulty setting if anything
This will only reach maximum effectiveness if we added signals, double tracks and sidings, and AI trains as the cherry on top
At least it could be a device in each station that allows you to set all the switches before you depart
Before Simulator Update there was a mod that can finde a rout from anyware on tracks to platform in a station and setup all switches on the way include direction change.
I also had a mod from nexus that build a small server you can reach via Browser in lan that generate a map that show all objects on track with it numbers and also can switch with Klick on the map in browser.
But both mods not updated this time maybe not under deployment so never get an update.
Route Manager and Remote Dispatch respectively: I used both of them ALL THE DAMN TIME
The developer of remote dispatch is active on the discord here, and there's a pull request to update it on github so hopefully that one will get updated soon - I really want it now that the DE6 doesn't support the remote control...
That's a nice information.
Do you have a git link.
Maybe for testing?
Edit: ok. The modder is also developer. This feature maybe some day a main game feature.
Yeah, I did not know that the modder was a developer of the core game when I wrote that. Also, I don't think it'll ever be a core feature as it doesn't seem to flow with the intended feel of the game, but who knows.
That said, the git link is available on the mod page on nexus.
I could make a program for that
