the rain effect looks so much better than in other games/simulators, really nice job!
SIDE SHOT!!!!
Shame they don't affect, rails could be subjected to some flooding for example, and running into it with speed more than X would cause damages to the loco's body, also they could be slippery after the rain for some time, just like IRL, as the rails also need to dry up to get their friction back
Flooding could be cool in the future, not being able to use a certain line because its blocked. Snow too, having to plough eventually might be cool too
have you also made the player model smaller? it sure feels like it in these videos
or just low FOV setting
The rain does affect the rails
Just not puddles
I know, just the question is: how long? until it stops raining, or some time after? ๐
The last shot of the rainy crossing + the music is so atmospheric.
Flooding IRL is much more of a danger to traction motors, which fry if they get wet. Locomotive specs have a "maximum water above railhead" measurement which varies. One class of diesels I worked with was 7 inches. Steam engines, though, can run through much higher water -- up to the bottom of the firebox. I've seen photos of steam locomotives running through several feet of water during floods.
When steam engines aren't available (i.e., almost all the time in real life) you can keep traffic moving by shoving long trains through flooded track, keeping the locomotive dry, and then retrieving them on the other side with a second locomotive.
All this is way out of scope for Simulator I'm sure, but could be interesting for a future "natural disasters" update ๐
It's unchanged from before.
As long as it's wet (similar to puddles), rail wetness also depends on sun exposure
Ok so I can kinda get the rain being low performance but HOW ON EARTH did you get the game to render, completely randomly generated, reflection generators in random spots and go away at calculated times based on the weather, without effecting performance?
There's some magic there, but it's not that reflections don't affect performance at all. Some players will need to adjust their graphics settings, depending on their hardware
And while the non-highest settings for reflections look decent, they're not as good as what's shown in the videos (videos have all settings maxed out)
ah
these are so good
thanks for sharing, mate. Pretty interesting info that would be lovable to be implemented in the future ^^
can it rain and have fog at the same time?
Yes
it looks amazing
Mmmmm, w a t e r
Puddel 100
