Hey all, I picked up a 3D printer for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and got inspired to create something for Draw Steel. As such, I give you a 3D printed player board. I printed mine in resin, but you could also do it in PLA I'm sure.

All the pieces fit in snug enough to turn easy but not float too much.

Also, I found out the hard way when painting this that while the recessed numbers on the dials look great, they are a huge PITA to paint. So I made second version with slightly raised numbers on the dials that would be easier to paint. Feel free to use whichever you like.

Here are all the files on TinkerCAD. I hope I set the sharing correctly, if you have trouble, ping me and I'll try and fix it.

This is super cool! Is there a way to indicate if your stamina, or heroic resource for a talent, is negative?

Hadn't considered it. I'm open to ideas, although there is not a ton of real estate left on the board and it just fit on my printer. I could maybe make a different dial for the far left two that just has like 0, 1, 2, and - on it. I haven't had opportunity to play a ton. How realistic is 3 digits for those two?

And the talent's the only one with negative HR, so design space aside, you could have another dial called "strain" to indicate it.

#

They also can't be positive and negative at the same time, so maybe just a toggle switch for each on the left instead of the 3rd digit.

#

Also what's the toggle switch for the Heroic Resource meant to be? This is so great, v excited to print some of these off.

#

Also, if you're looking for more space, do surges get into double digits at higher levels?

You can get 3 digit stamina at higher levels but heroic resources I don't think would go that high. I like the 0, 1, 2, and - idea.

I don't think adding "strain" specifically is a good call, design wise, I wanted to to be class agnostic. as @deft gate mentioned, I think I'll just update the left dial to support 3 digits and a negative. Also, we don't know what future design space brings, so that feels the most "future proof"

The toggle for Heroic Resource is because a couple of my players are still learning the order of play and forgetting to gain their resources at the start of their turn. Just a reminder to do it. I figure it'll help onboard players. That said, an idea that just hit me and I'd like feedback on. What if the HR toggle wasn't one toggle, but like 3 smaller toggles. I know a number of classes have several HR generation methods that are "first time in a round" or "first time in the encounter" sort of thing. They could then just put a sticky note about what each one is for the class they are playing and use it to keep track of each. Thoughts? Would 3 be enough?

As for Surges. I don't know that they would. If other people can chime in that have more play experience, I'd apprecaite it. The symetry of design makes for the happy brain chemicals, but I'm down with revisions if they make sense and I can make it look good. That said, the width of the board is pretty much fixed as any bigger and I couldn't print it. As it is, I have to tilt it at like a 75% angle or so to get it to fit on the build plate.
