Hello! I've been fiddling around with game-icons.net to make a set of 100 generic monster tokens, inspired by Sly Flourish's method. I thought I'd ask for some feedback before posting the image files in case anybody wanted to use them. So far, I have 90 tokens split up in eight initiative groups, matching the colour coding used in the Delian Tomb. That leaves 10 tokens for things like dynamic terrain objects or other NPCs. Included are:
48 Minions (four groups of 8, four groups of 4)
24 Hordes (four groups of 4, four groups of 2)
12 Phalanxes (four groups of 2, four singles)
4 Elites (four singles)
1 Leader
1 Solo
= 90
Three questions:
-
What do you think of the icons? I really like the minions, but I could be persuaded to change up the others. I went for what I perceived to be increasingly fancy helmets; does that read well?
-
Given the scale these things are meant to be printed at, the letter-number identifier is almost certainly too small. Since I'll have to redo them all anyway to fix that, should I make the placement more uniform? For example, in the centre of the token, or perhaps the bottom centre? I was trying to avoid obscuring the icon, but that ship will sail.
-
What should the spare 10 tokens depict? I think I have a fairly good mix based on how many types of monsters might appear in any given encounter, but what would be most useful to spend the last 10 spares on? I considered doing one for each of the nine classes, but I want to use paper standees for those at the very least.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
