We are a D&D 5e/5.5e server offering a persistent game world set in the Forgotten Realms and broader D&D multiverse. You and others play as adventurers of the Hawthorne Guild, an adventuring guild in the Sword Coast. With over 10,000 sessions ran over the course of 8 years, you and other players can dive in to determine the next chapter of your character's story and the guild's story.

As a player on the server, you can:

• Play any number of characters starting at level 3 or level 5 (your choice)
• Create characters using almost all of the official options as well as select UA and server homebrew
• Create and play either 5e 2014 or 5.5e 2024 characters
• Progress your character through game sessions to experience content from level 3 to level 20
• Participate in downtime activities and text roleplay between adventures

As a DM on the server, you can:

• Run games for any level of play and your choice of either 5e 2014 or 5.5e 2024 games
• Participate in a shared setting of the Forgotten Realms and broader D&D multiverse by running your choice of oneshots, multisessions or campaigns or Play-By-Post
• Use almost all official monsters and magic items to use and award in your games, as well as server homebrew
• Gain DM rewards to progress a character at the same rate as a player, so you don't miss out on any of the fun when you play games as well

We're recruiting both players and DMs, with new members able to become a DM immediately. We have a helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable base of Staff, players, and DMs with years of D&D experience and are welcoming to D&D players both veteran and new.

Thanks to the efforts of Hawthorne adventurers, the Cult of True Ascendance was unable to abscond with a lost Mythallar from the Star Mounts for their own nefarious ends. However, Dorn Dundragor, leader of this branch of the Cult of the Dragon, still yet has another plot up his sleeve: he now intends to use an otherworldly artifact to channel the power of the approaching King-Killer Star to empower Chyrross, his ancient white dragon protector. Through this ritual, Chyrross will become a dracolich powerful enough to challenge even the dragon deities Bahamut and Tiamat. You must stop the ritual and defeat this would be new dragon god once and for all.

For those looking to join this week, our Rage of Dragons event has entered Arc 4: Fortify.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the Harpers, who had been working on the issue of the dragon cultists, Hawthorne was able to stop the Ascended Dracolich-God ritual. With their false goddess defeated, the Cult of the Dragon once again splintered into an assortment of small leaderless factions. But where one threat ends, a new one emerges.

As ritual was brought down, so too has the King-Killer Star! According to researchers at M.A.G.I.C., the comet will soon enter Toril's orbit and from there remain for months and possibly longer still. It inevitably seems the Dracorage will remain for a while, and it's only a matter of time before the extended effects of its presence becomes disastrous.

Beware adventurers, for this marks the beginning of the 4th arc of the Rage of Dragons, a Hawthorne Story Season. The comet arrives sooner than any prepared for. Ready yourselves for a siege, Hawthorne!

We've also started a new server event to last until the end of this month, the Night of the Black Knives.

A veteran adventurer of Hawthorne and powerful servant of the Raven Queen has gone missing, said to have been spirited away by the machinations of the deity Shar. In celebration of their dark goddess's plot, followers of the Lady of Loss now move amid the shadows to strike out against the Hawthorne Guild and its members. As other heroes of Hawthorne work to return the Raven Queen's servant back to her home, it is up to adventurers like you to ensure there is still a home to return to.

With the King-Killer Star's arrival accelerated by the calamitous ritual of the Cult of the Dragon, the Hawthorne Guild has been making headway to secure resources and make defensive strategies in dealing with the comet's extended stay. But a question remained: how could the King-Killer Star contain the power to bestow divinity as the Cult of the Dragon attempted?

A new discovery shed light on answers. On an island in the southern regions of the Sea of Swords, guild members found an orrery that revealed the comet bears a divine spark, a seed of power that beholds a god. What flies among the stars is no mere comet, but an egg: a third dragon deity not yet hatched or formed. This grand discovery and possibility heralded the arrival of two unexpected visitors.

The dragon deities Bahamut and Tiamat themselves have personally arrived at Hawthorne to obtain the guild's aid. The alteration of the King-Killer Star's trajectory could threaten all of Toril's dragonkind forever. But the discovery of the divinity hidden in the egg presented a new opportunity, one that neither deity was willing to cede to the other. Both gods ask for one thing: an obelisk to created and taken to the King-Killer Star, to allow them to influence and move the celestial body away to lift the prolonged Dracorage from Toril.

Arc 7: King Killer Star

After months, the fateful hour has at last approached. Within a tenday, the King Killer Star will be as close to Toril as it has ever been and the new Rage of Dragons will sweep across the planet once more. Settlements across the world brace for the havoc that is sure to ensue. But hope remains.

The Hawthorne Guild hasn't been idle, with construction of the two great dragon obelisk ongoing at a frantic pace. An outpouring of support ensured the Platinum Obelisk was fully built with time to spare, with the Grandmaster of Flowers himself pleased by the sight of it. With the approaching doom on the horizon, the Chromatic Obelisk is steadily being constructed as well. Desperate times have made for strange allies, and differences with the Dark Lady have been set aside for the greater good. And in another spot of good news, members of the Yamato clan within Hawthorne have recovered the knowledge of Abate Dracorage, a spell to alleviate the worst of the Dracorage's effects on the afflicted.

But in the backdrop of the approaching comet and the construction of the obelisks, a strangeness fouls the air. There are sightings of dark figures, rumors whispered behind corners unseen. As the pillars near completion even as the King Killer Star descends, there is feeling that there is something else watching... waiting...

We've recently announced two new server events, the Death Curse and the Dread Empire.

In the Death Curse event, with the running of the Tomb of Annihilation campaign, a mysterious death curse has swept with the world, with signs of its origins pointing to Chult. DMs may optionally run Death Curse games wherein any humanoids that die during them cannot be resurrected by any means, with participating DMs and players able to receive event rewards at the end of the event, including a new role tag for participating players!

In the Dread Empire event, the Dread Empire is a nascent power based in the High Moor led by the enigmatic Dread Empress, who commands Legions of Dread under her command. The Dread Empire has recently set its sights on the Sword Coast, forcing the factions of Faerûn to take action, and with Hawthorne poised to make a difference. In this server event, DMs can run games involving the factions of Faerûn and the Dread Empire as the Legions of Dread seek to sweep across the Sword Coast, offering opportunities for both DMs and players to earn Renown rewards and advance their faction ranks.

The lords and champions of Faerûn gather once more — not for celebration, but for dread tidings.

Beyond the High Moor, dark banners rise over ruined keeps. A new dominion stirs — the Dread Empire, born from shadow and blood, a Black Tower rising over red.

To meet this threat, the Five Factions have convened.
