Hey All! like many of you, i am very excited by Draw steel and the homebrew possibilities. As a gish lover i have had this idea kicking around for a while and so in my enthusiasm i decided to write down a rough version and share it! so i present the shaper and Seraph

Shaper:

  • A gish class that uses matter from the astral sea
  • Creates astral constructs, object the shaper can move around the field and use for additional efffects.
  • Inspired by the classic sword summoner archetype, think gilgamesh from fate, noctis from FF15, Erza from fairy tail etc.
  • is a psionic class

Seraph

  • A angelic ancestry (like the aasimar or nephalim from 5e and pf2e) that attempts to capture the part angel trope.
  • has an angelic guide that works to let the dm prod and nudge the seraph
  • wings are (i would argue) a core fantasy of the angel and this is another test version of it. will very likely change as development continues, but for now it will do the job 😛

Would love any feedback you may have! obviously these are a very rough draft and not super well edited (sorry for any spell mistakes). let me know if anyone gets the chance to try either!

my hope is to keep developing, adding new levels, and any other stuff i come up with in the meantime, especially once we see more levels from Draw steel (especially from the troubador and Censer)

ENJOY!

For the flight effect, I think it would be better to have some debuffs for being in flight (as with the Devil ancestry) rather than a once per respite ability.

did you intend to have Shaper and Seraph to be anagrams because that's awesome

Cool! I agree with the feedback on Seraph. One flight per respite is really rough, and does not really fit the non-attrition design of Draw Steel. I would recommend following the Devil's wings as well.

Halo is a cool ability, but you could probably simplify it by having it be something like "you gain the following triggered action" then have it present the ability in the standard ability format. Could probably make it as a power roll too rather than damage based on victories. I also don't think turning it on/off as a free maneuver really does anything mechanically since the player can just choose not to use the triggered action, so you can probably remove that wording
