Update: 1st Draft complete as of 9/2/2024

So, I've been itching to work on my own homebrew for Draw Steel, and now with the license, I can start putting out some of my concepts. I wanted to get this out early in draft form to see if people would be interested in it. I have more on this, but I wanted to get the very core identity out now, and plan to update this over the next few weeks at minimum.

Behold, the** Magewright**
The Magewright is the archetypical magic crafter, artificer, and mad scientist. Whilst not appropriate for ever setting, I feel it is nonetheless a beloved archetype that will find a home in many games.

seems cool! very ambitious

#

it's clearly very early, so I won't nitpick, but I do have one piece of advice, from one homebrewer to another:

shoot!

for the ingenuity bonus, instead of "if a creature infused by you gains a tier 3 result on an attack, you gain 1 ingenuity", consider: "if a creature infused by you gains a tier 3 result on an ability roll, you gain 1 ingenuity"

#

ability rolls are more broad and cover things like area abilities (which are often not "Attacks"), but it won't apply to something like, say, many maneuvers

This is pretty cool, you can tell a lot of thought has gone into it, I’m interested to see how it pans out!

You might be right. I copied the wording from the Tactican, but may need to alter. Because the base rules are still under development, its bound to change. For now, the core idea of the Magewright 'buffing' an ally, and then gaining off that ally is the core idea

void scaffold
#

it's a solid core idea!

The operator idea is very cool too, but won't scratch the same itch

Yeah it’s a very different idea, and is also different enough from the Caustic Alchemh shadow!

speaking of which, I gotta prep a bit for my game, hence why I can't get more out atm. I have more designs for this on an excel sheet that I'll get on later this week.

this is compelling as hell

This is funny, ive started my own class and it's extremely similar in concept even with the same 3 flavors of subclass. I'll avoid reading any more so I don't accidentally steal your ideas and we can compare later 😀

Great minds think alike . I'm encouraged, that this is an appealing fantasy that people could be interested in. I'll ping you once i finish my first draft and we can contrast on how we both approached this fantasy.

good job imo, but you have written "type: action" in all the vocaition trigered actions insted of "type:triggered" its hella confusing 😄

Disintegrate beam feels very weak?

#

It's single target, and deals on average 11/14/16 damage, with the weaken only lasting until end of turn

that said, maybe I could up the damage a bit; 1st draft and all I think I was being conservative in the damage.
