#GM looking for a New Group of Players

To put it short, I am in search of a new player group. My old group and I have kind of disbanded just due to everyone doing their own thing now in life. Some have time dedicated to other things in life now and what not. What I'm looking for and somethings about myself:

  • Similar Age or Older Players. I am 26 and would prefer to play with folks in a similar age bracket. However, I am not against younger players (21-25) in my group either.

  • New & Experienced Players. I want to have both in the group for those that who are new to the hobby as a whole can have others to siphon knowledge from.

  • Small to Medium Size Group. I really want 4-6 Players and how many we actually carry depends solely on the experience level at the table.

  • I have a License to FoundryVTT so this is what we will be using for most if not all our games. If need The Forge is an alternative (Web Hosted Foundry).

  • Willing to rotate the responsibility of GM. This is a big ask I'm very well aware of, but for a time I experienced some really bad GM burnout. This put me in a really dower mood (some years ago this happened) with my group, as no one was interested in running another kind of game or one-shot other than myself.

  • Please and I mean this in the nicest way possible. Don't be racist. I rather at least break the ice with this somehow large ask lol, I am Black, and I have had some less than savory experiences in the past using LFGs. (This is not directed at anyone specifically that I have interacted with here in the MCDM server.)

If you are interested in getting together as a group leave a message in the thread. I'm mostly interested in running a Pathfinder 2e game right now, it's what I've already begun the process of Homebrewing a new Setting for. That isn't to say things can't be changed, I'm flexible like that. Would love to see what comes of this.

What timezone and what days / times would be likely to work?

I’m potentially in the market for a new group. But between work and parenthood have a fairly full schedule. So I’ve only got a few timeslots I can reliably make games.

I’m 31, and quite experienced with both PF2e and foundry. (I’ve actually made modules for foundry!) and really like playing in homebrew settings.

I’m certainly don’t mind running one-shots or even short adventures, I’ve got a bunch of them in my back pocket that I usually pull out when one of my GMs is unable to make it, but I’m currently running a campaign and don’t have enough energy in the tank for two simultaneously.

Would love to play some more pf2e! A friday 5e game I'm DM'ing will be done around November. Otherwise only Sunday mornings I've got fully open. Might have some other random weeknight availability as well 🙂

@hearty night @safe scroll I definitely forgot to include my availability😂 but I threw it in the post. I have a family myself, expecting our newest addition any day now. On top of being a husband and Father I also teach 6th Grade Mathematics.

Sunday with a morning start time would be the most ideal. I was playing a pf2e game for like 3 months earlier this year. We used foundry too.

Availability wise I think the only match I’ve got is Saturday before 9pm. Which does come with the caveat that occasionally weekend travel or house guests result in me having to miss sessions on weekends.

Tuesdays evening could potentially work for me on a longer time scale. I’m expecting that time slot to free up sometime in August when my Quest for the Frozen Flame campaign wraps up.

I'm interested in learning PF2e, I've recently got the books and started looking at them. I could do Thursdays and Saturdays at the times you've listed. (I'm PST, but those times in CST work for me)

I'm David, about to turn 25 in September. I'm a longtime player and DM, but have played almost exclusively 5e. I'm currently running my first game in Foundry, and find myself thoroughly enjoying the platform. I don't have my own subscription though, just piggy backing off a friend. I'm happy to run one shots and short adventures when you're having burn out 💜, but I'd want to get accustomed to PF2e first.

What else would you want to know about me? Or any of us asking to play with you in this thread, for that matter.

What I would like to know most about you, or everyone else interested in playing would be. What is your favorite RPG? (can be a tabletop or a video game.) What about your fav class (ex. DPS, TANK, SUPP) of character? What is your favorite thing about our hobby?

Favourite RPG is a tough question as there’s a lot of conflation for me with favourite campaigns and favourite systems. One of my favourite systems has to be Wushu though. It’s extremely elegant and it’s great for pick up play. I ran it for strangers in some of the hostels we were staying at when me and my roommate backpacked across Europe a decade ago. I think the most memorable campaign I ever played I was in Mongoose’s Legend system which was a fork of their Runequest 6 system.

I’m a sucker for bards. Or really any sort of skilled character with decent social skills and a bit of magic. Very frequently the first archetype I play around with in any new system. Depending on the system that sort of archetype can lean more towards DPS or Support.

Favourite thing about the hobby. Probably a bit of a general answer but getting to take part in and shape fantasy narratives. I love stories so getting to take part in collaboratively building one out is just, so good.

Favorite RPG is just D&D 5e I guess, it's 90% of what I've played. But just roleplaying with friends in general, in either a D&D or Play by Post environment is lots of fun. Video game wise it's proabably skyrim for nostalgia, but Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood was one of my recent favorites.

I don't have a favorite class, really, but I'm a big fan of maximizing my build's potential, whatever build that may be. Happy to play almost anything. I guess I'm a min-maxer or power gamer or whatever, but I focus on the character first, then just make a build that makes that character most effective at what they do. Lately I'm enjoying my Great Weapon Master build on my Battlemaster Fighter, so I'd probably play a spellcaster in this if I'm chosen.

My favorite part about the hobby is making communities and coming together. I love how tight a D&D group can grow even over a short period of playing together: all the inside jokes and support for each other both in game and out.

Hi Ken! You sound cool and I'm interested! I'm Alec, I'm 31, am also a husband/father and I'm on Pacific time but think your timeslots could work well. I feel like bi-weekly is more accessible to me but could maybe swing weekly for a time.

I've been the DM for two 5e campaigns, one of which went virtual for a time in 2020, we used Roll20. I've been curious about using Foundry and PF2e (I got several books in a Humble Bundle awhile back), and would love to get into it. I might get the DM itch but would have to get much more familiar with PF2e and Foundry. Also super interested in playing the MCDM RPG once it's out!

Hi I'm Dameon, 27. About 7 years of experience with 5e, have played some PF 2e, got most of the pre remastered material. 've also been reading up on Fabula Ultima, Ryutama, Shadows of the Demon Lord, 13th age, and DnD 4e, as well as backing the MCDM RPG. I have experience running one shots, and can go some GM if calls for it.

I haven't been able to find a consistent group due to availability, I like in PST timezone, and because of my work commute not home till about 6:30pm on weekdays. But I am down for weekend mornings.

Hello, Im Damien Im 29 I have been playing DnD 5e for the last 3 years and recently started playing VTM. Id be interested in playing PF2e, DnD, any of the WOD settings even though Im still pretty new to the universe, but honestly Im all in for learing a new system. At this current moment I would say my favorite TTRPG is VTM ive really come to enjoy the more Role play side of TTRPGs. I generally tend to play Fighters who try and lean heroic but end up being a gray, chaotic good 😂. My favorite thing about the hobby is watching stories unfold from PC personal stories (everyone's) to the main plot or smaller stories expanding. I can work with the schedule that is up except for Tuesdays. Bit long winded but I think I hit all the points lol

That’s all great my guy! I’m not entirely familiar with VTM, but I’m down to learn it in the future if you’re willing to teach. Right now we have decided on Game Days as Saturday 12-3p CST.
