What I enjoy as a player is this: The social elements, political intrigue, mysteries, twists, and a well-thought-out story. Immersive RP and social interactions and the exploration of towns and cities. Engaging with diverse NPCS, negotiating alliances, unraveling political schemes, and participating in social events allow us to fully embody our characters and make impactful decisions. Delving into our character's motivations, values, and relationships. Discovering hidden secrets unmasking villains, and untangling complex webs of deception create a sense of suspense and excitement.
When the DM weaves elements from our character's past into the current narrative, it validates our character's history and motivations. It brings this sense of agency, as our choices can directly impact our character's journey and the world around them.
Additional Information: Would love to find a 1on1 game, with just a DM and myself. The specific setting I am looking to play is kind of noir, espionage, magitech, fantasy. Using Discord and the Avrae bot from DnD Beyond (new to using this, but I learn quickly).
