did you select this in the installer?
make a new project
i think yea
okii
shit
open your visual studio installer and show a screenshot of what you have selected
New here and looking to quickly get started with C or C++ on Windows? Follow the steps in this thread to compile and run your first bits of code in Visual Studio.
click the "modify" button
this thread has all the info on what to install to use VS properly for C++
the UI looks so ancient
yeah i have a lot of them selected
can you show the photof of components on the left side ?
like this
uncheck the desktop development and check it again , and see if it changes things in the list to the side
ok now you have them all , go ahead with the installation
cant i cut any of them short ? kind of low on storage
are you on windows 10 or 11 ?
11
then idk , maybe remove the github copilot , but i doubt that does anything significant to storage size
most of the heavy ones like the build tools , the debugger , address sanitizer etc are pretty good things you should install
you probably dont need vcpkg package manager , the windows 11 SDK , the Boost test adapter the google test adapter
but i would honestly install them all , 5 gig or smth is not too much in today's age
guys
i have a bit of weird question thats outside of this whole issue but is still related to c++
once u get good at c++, what can u do
you do need the SDK
oh ok
my bad xd , i thought u need that only if u are gonna make windows applications
...projects ?
yup
that's what all programs compiled with VS are
also weird thing, but add in mind that i arleady know how to do animations, motion graphics
the general idea is "do what you find fun"
but, why did you start C++ ? what was your objective behind learning C++ ?
tis will be embarressing but really its just for college
are you interested in programming at all ? what are you studying in college ? like , CS ? electronics ? .. .?
cs
i like programming but like not the number 1 thing am passionate abt
more like 3th thing
then look at https://discord.com/channels/331718482485837825/1014331272362999920 and choose an idea that you like to make
although if you just started learning C++ , it will be a long time before you learn C++ so you will be spending few weeks mostly just learning things and writing simple stuff in terminal
hmm, i see
well
thank you sir
