brother, as you've been told already: ask a question
Anyone can ask a question in our programming channels. Following the guide Writing The Perfect Question is recommended.
State your problem clearly and provide all necessary details:
Provide the relevant code in the message, and format it nicely with a code block*. If it's too much for one message, you can upload it:
lol
if you don't ask a question, you don't get an answer, it's shrimple
look we cannot help you if you do not ask an question
lol we're collectively pressuring them into asking one now
in case you're wondering why there's a bunch of angry nerds coming after you for not properly asking a question (and provided you're still reading): people are generally willing to put as much effort into answering a question as you put into asking it in the first place
which is to say none so far
in this case it's not even about effort, there is just nothing we can do to help ๐
in fact, people are clearly very eager to even put effort into trying to answer questions that haven't even been asked yet ๐
Fair, but I also take issue with the hints towards a lack of respect for other people's time though, especially here
"help
- what's your issue
- meh, I'll just leave it"
I think he expects us to freind him first
yeah, well, I don't help people I don't know in DMs
Yeah, it is a unlikely scenario
I just never get why people want that, like just ask your question, why Dms etc
sometimes it's because their question is about something against the rules
Sometimes they truly think itโs better to ask in dms for whatever reason

Thank you and let us know if you have any more questions!

if you have more questions feel free to ask in #cpp-help-text
I'm generally new to this server just read some of the other leading messages but most people want to ask in dms because they are afraid that they would ask a stupid question and get flamed for it
I can tell ya, I'm gonna flame you a whole lot more for going to my DMs instead of asking here. Most of the more experienced people here will put as much effort into helping people learn as people put forward to learning. This involves asking well formed questions, not asking the same thing many times in a row (we've had plenty of people just keep asking the same question), not asking us to write your code for you, etc.
@tropic vessel yeah i know i don't do that im saying there's people that actually care about learning , and do not want to think that theey are dumb
Sure, and I'm here to help people who actually want to learn, yall just aint doing the learning in my DMs
i dont do that lol
Ahh, the not wanting people to think they are dumb is unfortunately an issue that people will have to overcome. I'll straight up say it, you are dumb af when you start programming, everyone is. It's how you grow that defines you, not how you start
But they rather ask privately instead of getting clowned you know . There are alot of people that ruined that opportunity for others.
There's no shame in being dumb, only in staying that way
I mean, getting clowned for learning should probably get sent a mod report
also when you ask in chat there are different responses and you aren't sure which one to take in consideration
Typically, multiple responses = listen to the person/people with the highest rank in the server
Like, ik it's an appeal to authority fallacy, but we tend to do a good job here making sure the roles are applied appropriately
does anyones Visual Studio not VSC freezing for the newest version 2022. I was reading on stack overflow it has been acting like that to alot of people and there are many options.Do you think i should use an older version and if so which one would be best fit.
Yeah, I've definitely had freeze issues. Unfortunately, I don't consider a downgrade to VS2019 as an option.
so rather than downgrading i should stick with VSCODE for c++ , I usually use NVIM but for learning the syntax for c++ i am sticking with VSCODE for now
I just use Visual Studio 2022 Community still. The freezes I see tend to be when I leave it open for a long time and do a big copy/paste op
interesting
It's still better for my use case than VSC
