I've been looking under the device logs, and it does not show.
Plus the automations tied to it are not running

If you go to the developer section, then to Events, then enter zha_event in the lowest text field and listen "Start listen" (https://i.imgur.com/olBc5PE.png)
Do you see anything when pressing buttons on the remote?

ok...that's really weird. I did that, but nothing is showing up. but I checked other zha devices that I know work (motion sensors) and they aren't showing events, but are showing events in logs, and functioning. I copied and pasted zha_event into the correct spot according to your picture

zha_event events only show up for stateless devices (like remotes)
You mentioned reverting to 2022.6.7 instantly brought back the remotes?
On 2022.7.x, did you try to pair the remote again?

yeah....it did not work. It's weird that it's showing battery information and the log (on the device page) is showing "checkin event" firings, but not the button pushes
