Finally my question:
What frequency is used by HA when scanning for new devices using HUSBZB-1, it is the main 908.42 MHz, or is it both?

#

Today I tried pairing a Z-Wave device in-store which runs on 916 MHz, and the Dongle + HA couldn't pair to it, it didn't show up in the scan

in US/Canada, zwave operates under 908.42

I'm outside the US

have a look at this chart to see if your country is listed

proven pecan

So I would actually want to scan exclusively on 916 Mhz

You don't control that.

Which is my country's approved frequency

Try excluding the device first.

proven pecan

@robust kettle WDYM excluding the device?

prime maple
#

also, use a usb extension cable

prime maple
proven pecan

Really?
the device was centimeters away

prime maple
#

yes

#

it's to reduce interference from the computer/pi

#

6 inches or similar is all you need usually

@prime maple the device I tested in-store, was inches away from the usb dongle, I Dont think interference was an issue there.

The device itself was supposed to be unpaired,
Each 2nd Time it enters pairing mode, it should have deleted it's own history..

#

unless, I'm wrong

prime maple
#

if you spend a few months on this server, you will see that literally everyone says that

#

i wouldn't rely on what is supposed to happen, do an exclude first and use an extension

proven pecan
#

Damn, I drove 1.5hrs to get to the store

#

I'm back home now

prime maple
#

maybe a factory reset on the device

proven pecan
#

I was brand new from a box, I think

prime maple

not a preferable troubleshooting scenario

#

maybe, maybe someone else did the same thing as you, lol

proven pecan

I have the device model, I'm trying to retrieve it

(The zwave device I was trying to pair)

Found it:

Thanks for trying to help @prime maple @robust kettle

Just to summarize,
I cannot control the scanning frequency in any way?
and probably it scans both by default as part of the hardware \ driver,?

#

Sorry Guys, I messed up a tiny bit:
All users are encouraged to use a USB extension cable to prevent such interference. Please try such a cable before opening an issue or requesting **support on Discord**. It will nearly always be the first troubleshooting step that we ask you to take anyway.

Without having any details, it's impossible to say whether an extension cord was your problem or not in this specific case. Still, it is recommended to discount it as a possibility.

#

The frequencies of the devices are not the problem, since they are matching.

In the US (and other regions), there are two frequency channels. 908.4 is for 9.6kbps and 40kbps speeds. 916 is used for 100kbps speeds.

I did not do a full factory reset,
I only did local inclusion and exclusions on the device..

So I still need to retry:
Extension cord
Factory Reset button ( not pairing button )
