I am working on an art installation and need a a camera that will take pictures from about 8m away.
It needs to work with Home Assistant (maybe ftp is enough?)
On an action it will take a picture and that is it.
Any recommendation for good cameras?
I am going thourgh the Reolink setup.
But looks like their WiFi cameras are not supported by Home Assistant.

Is it/can it be hardwired to power? I have a bunch of Reolink stuff that works great on WiFi networking but they are hardwired to power. The unsupported/less supported devices tend to the ones that are battery (sometimes with solar) powered. As these tend to have less functionality due to needing to conserve power.

Then I would say that "most" reolink cameras will probably work. There is a list of tested models in the Integration Documentation which may give you some stuff to look at.

But, when checking the Home Assistant Integration page, i see only the non WiFi variant is listed there:

same applies to other models i looked into.
So I am not sure if that will work then.

It will almost certainly work. I just have not got any feedback about this specific model and I don't have it myself. That's why it's not in the list. But I don't see any reason why it would not work.
There isn't much on it though, which can be a good thing. If it works people don't mention it. If it had issues then there would be complaints.

There are some vocal people that complain that "wifi stuff doesnt work" but what they mean is "i got the cheapest device with a tiny battery and it doesn't stream 4k 24/7 like the expensive hardwared one"

Yeah this would be cool, starkiller puts a great deal of work into the integgration so anything that can help will be welcomed I am sure.
