I have gotten a dimmer knob from https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005011820889707.html

Which, when paired with ZHA, immediately started controlling a random device (A Zigbee Socket Switch) on click without me setting up any automations for it or anything, i want this to not control the socket but something else through a automation

Is this a feature that i dont understand or a bug?

Is the controlled device from Aqara/Lumi/Xiaomi?

I see multiple possibilities here:

  1. You activated Touchlink by accident. Dial should have 2 button-combos: enter pairing mode (join network) and activate Touchlink (bind to the nearest device to directly control it).

  2. Socket has trash firmware: Aqara switches with 2021 versions. You paired the dial correctly - ZHA bound it to the coordinator. So control messages from the dial have "destination: coordinator". Socket acts as router, but it applies the commands to itself, instead of simply passing them forward to the coordinator. There are OTA updates fixing this, but ZHA/Z2M can not automatically push them, because Aqara screwed up the version numbering

  3. Dial is bound by default to group X. And socket is in group X for some reason
