I'd like to know whether it's worth it to bother with flashing the PE with custom firmware or wait for official support. Is it really impossible to "upload" the wake words to an ESP device after being flashed and requiring firmware rebuild?
It seems kinda wild that the following needs to be done to customize something as basic ( !== simple to implement) as wake words.

There is a plan to make it so satellites can load a wake word directly from Home Assistant.There is a issue for it on the OHF-Voice/backlog-issues repo HERE.
Last time I asked, Kevin mentioned that it is basically waiting for development time to free up, He has been pretty busy with Sendspin so hasn't had the time to put into this for now. That was January though, I don't know what the schedule is looking like now. But you can watch the issue for any news as soon as things start happening again.
