#Transfering HAOS to TrueNAS
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
On TrueNAS are you running as an app/container or are you running HAOS in a VM?
as an app
Is that their HA build with a PostgreSQL dependency for no good reason?
yes
You can't migrate Apps to a Container install. At least not via HA itself. Install HA OS as a VM.
I know I can't migrate automatically. I'm looking to do it manually.
If you previously had stuff like Z2M running as an app in haos then when you move to a container setup (truenas app is container) then you need to seperatly install them seperaly and link your HA to them manually.
plus virtualisation is disabled and i can't be bothered enabling it
Then please don't use their app, install HA Container manually as well.
I know, but there's tons of configuration that it's asking for that I didn't need to do in HAOS
For Z2M you basically just have to transfer the data directory: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/faq/#how-do-i-move-my-zigbee2mqtt-instance-to-a-different-environment
The HAOS app likely does some of the stuff automatically.
oh god i didn't even think will this mean repairing all my devices
You need to run Mosquitto (MQTT Broker) first.
It does not. It should not.
For the path you need to check ls -l /dev/serial/by-id. For the driver this depends on the adapter.
Honestly, switching on virtualisation and installing HAOS as a VM is going to be a lot easier of a solution.
But really, Why not enable virtualization and use a VM? Why even migrate and from where?
from a RPI to my home server
Any progress? Have you deciced to enable virtualization?
i have, but i can't find an ISO
HAOS has no iso (yet). Just images. Look here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/installing-haos-in-a-vm-on-truenas/511393
I've followed those steps and it's running, but that's where the guide kinda stops...
is it automatically passing through a port?
ah it gets its very own dhcp ip, that's cool
does this mean the restore is broken?
@cunning patio, sorry for ping, dont want to be sitting here watching it do nothing haha
Not necessarily. Check ha supervisor logs -vf in the VM's console.
what's the login?
root. No password.
last log was 12 minutes ago
looks like its loaded. is the restore web ui just not getting that update?
ah potentially the ip changed
What's ha jobs info look like?
the port i mean
i changed it to port 80.
You probably shouldn't.
anyway I'm in
thank you
I need to figure out the new path for my zigbee coordinator and skyconnect now
i should have already passed them through
Here.
no such file or dir
The by-id path should stay the same. You need to reboot after restore or some things might not work. Does it work in the SSH app?
just restarting one sec
Not just HA though.
The whole VM. Hence reboot.
they've shown up now that i restarted
does HAOS not have a cloudflare tunnel addon?
One generally calls it boot when it involves the OS restarting and restarting when it's just a service/app.
I'm pretty sure there is one.
not official apparently
Yeah. Might be 3rd party. Or use tailscale.
tailscale i also use, want my family to access it without being on my vpn tho haha
Tailscale has funnel. I think it's called that.
