looking to replace the shown down driver for the shown led downlight.
ideally looking at zigbee as I am leaning more into that these days but wifi also acceptable.

I am in the UK but information from EU should be relevant too.

I am not super familiar with CC led driver specs so hopefully someone who knows more about how the spec work and can teach me the secret ways.

what I know:
these are ~6w fittings
the light needs a 350mA driver and has a max voltage rating of 14v
the driver puts out 10-14V at a constant current of 350mA

what I don't know:
how specific are the requirements of a driver spec.
looking around I have found various 350mA CC drivers but they have different voltage range. (e.g. 11.5-17.5v or 3-36v etc...) does the actual range going higher matter or as long as the voltage of the light is is within the range?

I feel that it might be the case that as its a constant current the resistance of the light will decide the voltage which means it should not matter what the range is at it will get set to what it needs.
however... I am not sure about this and don't really want to find out the hard way. what are the risks/best practices etc...?

and most importantly any recommended drivers.

goodmorning Michael, you can use drivers with lower/higher voltage,e.g. 5-50V, just watch the 350mA is correct. For lowest voltage you should not go above the 10V, lower is fine. Here are two drivers that should be compatible: Sunricher / SR-ZG9101-CC (6-50V) and the Skydance PB-12A-H(WZS) (3-24V), mA is adjustable to your needs.

#

both are zigbee as far as i noticed

#

and both can adjust the mA

#

As you wrote above: a driver with 350mA and voltage 3-36V would be fine

yeah did not notice,, delete

#

would not advice that

yes.

#

i think this might be a good one, compatible with hue and can be paired directly

elfin gazelle
#

specially depending on how plan pans out I might need a bunch.

these are offered by led store and lichtpartner also, maybe rebranded ๐Ÿ˜‰

#

checking..

yeah i am thinking other places probably whitelable them.

#

would be ideal if i could find something cheap on AE that wasn't tuya

although given that its zigbee anyway the ones with the tuya label might just be whitelabled stuff too and they added the tuya logo because it will work with a tuya coordinator

these links are provided by ai, so dont pin me on that..

20 quid a piece is a bit rough too tbh

rare jasper

have not checked the prices tbh

#

i dont use them, i run wled ๐Ÿ˜‰

be back after coffe/smoke

rare jasper

choose zigbee variant

yeah, ill have another look at them once I work out the exact plan. replacing them all doesn't seem worthwhile, in one place i needed to automate i just wired a shelly relay onto the old driver. it would nice to be able to dim but it looks like whilst the driver is dimmable the lights are apparently not. so just adding a relay might be the easier option. i need to work out how they are all wired together in some places.

#

bit of a mission to find a time that i am not going to be bothered, whilst there is daylight so i can turn off the lighting circuit and i have the drive to get on a chair and pull stuff out the ceiling ๐Ÿ˜›

good luck, be carefull, turn off power
