#HAOS only accessible from some machines on local network

I'm running HAOS. I've got two Mac computers and the app on my Pixel 8 that can access it. I have 2 Macs that cannot reach the server on :8123.
The non-functional machines can ping HAOS, HAOS can ping them.

One of the machines that cannot connect is new. The other has been here since before the HAOS install and was able to connect to it in Nov, but decided to stop talking to it. AFAIK, no network settings were changed. Nobody should have been messaging with them, but I cannot guarantee that settings weren't changed.

I've compared network settings on all 4 machines and the only differences I see are the IP address.

Do they happen to be on separate VLANs or have differing DNS servers?

(if you're accessing by IP, the latter won't matter, but curious about VLANs)

Something weird with the MacOS firewall I guess

There are no VLANs.
We access via IP.
I'm not a Mac fan, but this is at church, so I don't have a say...

I'll take a look at that reddit thread.

Is there a know solution? I've tried Chrome, might it possibly allow access via a different browser?

that example is chrome but the same thing can happen with all browsers. its a macos thing not a browser thing.

#

someone had this issue with safari recently.

#

granting permission to the browser applications to access local network (and sometimes restarting firewall) has shown to help for others.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

This thread contained the solution - granting the browser access to the local network.

After reading that, I do recall seeing the pop-up message asking something like "Do you want to allow Chrome to search the local network for devices?". The obvious answer, for anyone who wants a modicum of security is "NO!!!". Why the heck should Chrome be searching the network for devices? It's a web browser, not a network sniffer, right?

I've been beating my head against this issue for about 3 weeks now trying to figure out why the one machine stopped seeing HAOS (it must have popped the question and obviously got a "no" response).

I really appreciate the help!
