#Issues with install on x86 generic

lets start by defining "old"
I have tried using the haos image on the USB
i get that you might have been just trying things but you need to flash to the device you are going to boot from (SSD?) there is no "installer" that you boot you flash the OS to the boot drive
can you ensure the thinkcentre is updated to most recent bios. it looks like they had some uefi issues at some point.
there's a number of things it could be updating bios and then reflashing might help. the uefi stuff could have messed with the bootloader install.
if it doesn't work we have learnt something (and you will have an updated bios as a side effect) 😛
K I'm trying to update it right now because I wiped the drive
you might have to enable uefi etc.. in the bios after the bios. it wasn't default for some stuff back then.
Just trying to figure it out I haven't updated an old style bios in a little
yeah, we have all been there 🙂
Especially using an USB instead of windows
There we go got it updating
Haven't been updated in 3 years
Updating bios is always nerve racking
Still nothing
Still nothing what?
Like I can't boot into it
are you able to pull the SSD and try flashing it on another system? usb-sata or whatever?
What do you see during boot?
Not really because the pc I use only has one hard drive connecter
Do you have an option got into boot settings whilst the laptop is starting up? If not go into the Bios and see what devices show up for Boot Order
You could disable that agent. Try pressing F12 during boot to bring up the boot device selection.
I try that
Also, what did you use to create the USB from the downloaded image?
I used Ubuntu and then did the haos partition table on the drive
You might have to follow the efibootmgr steps too.
Can you boot ubuntu again and then share this?
lsblk -o+FSTYPE,LABEL,PTTYPE,MODEL
efibootmgr
Yeah np let me reformat my usb
Why re-format. What did you put on it now?
I updated my bios with it
Oh. Right.
Should I try reformatting it?
No. Flash looks good but you're not booted via UEFI.
might have to enable some stuff in there.
apprantly they have different bios's some with uefi and some without. did you get the right one?
it does seem like other people have had similar issues though.
there anything hiding in advanced to make it show up
See if CSM is disabled and if there is a UEFI boot option in the F12 boot menu.
could see if theres a slightly older version or something. it does seem to be an issue that the option to switch it on is just missing for some people
If not you have to virtualize.
that's not exactly what was meant but try all the submenus see if anything is hiding
oof, is that a HDD I spy?
Maybe
thats not recomended (but also shouldnt be the issue)
how much ram does the system have?
to be honest, your best bet might be to install ubuntu and run a container install in docker.
I did that with my 3d printer server I want add-ons though
addons are just containers pretty much all addons will have a stand alone container that you can just run alongside the HA container.
Well I'll try formatting this one more time
