Looking to wire up a way to use zwave to control my garage door.

Looking at getting this Zooz and a generic wired reed switch sensor. This is all I should need correct?

Zooz Zen17 - https://a.co/d/0zSAx3I
Reed Switch -https://a.co/d/iuR46uB

yes that should work; I use that exact Zooz relay with a different Reed switch and it works great.

Hi - sorry I need to clarify. I have 2 reed sensors going to each of the S1 and S2 set of terminals. One set monitors for the garage door open (fully) the other monitors for closed (fully).

I wasn’t able to use the contacts on the Zooz to activate my opener switches as I have Liftmaster openers which have security…toggling the two wires off the switch won’t do anything.

For that I used https://ratcloud.llc (it sounds like you may not need this and can just use the Zooz Zen17). It does work very well and can support your use case if you need it but may be overkill.

Shout with more questions

ratgdo is a hardware device that can control virtually any garage door opener, including Chamberlain / Liftmaster security + 2.0 models

I have the Genie Model 1028, which looks like at the very worst I can get this Aladdin Connect kit and at the integration for Home Assistant. https://www.amazon.com/Genie-Company-ALKT1-R-Smartphone-Anywhere/dp/B016QB7K5O/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis?th=1

This genie model doesn't seem to have any other smarts in it really, and has a simple dumb button switch on eht wall. So I think the Zooz would still work but I am doing some more research.

I think I would still prefer Zooz because it is zwave vs wifi which I am trying to move away from.

I think just wires from white/black into the zen17 should allow me to trigger it

They are to confirm the door is in the fully up, fully down, or somewhere in the middle. Likely overkill…but cool
