The port forwarding works with the IP so I don’t think there can be something wrong with that.

If you forward incoming traffic to port 8123, the reverse proxy won't get it, but the HA instance via http. The forwarding rule usually has to point to port 443.

You already have the necessary trusted proxies. So I guess it's the port forwarding.
Let's Encrypt might also need a rule for port 80, if you aren't using DNS challenge.
