#Aqara Battery Sensors Not Connecting to Zigbee2MQTT

Does anyone else struggle to connect Aqara battery sensors to Zigbee2MQTT (Door, Leak, Vibration, etc).

Eventually they will but sometimes it takes so long to get them to work, I Permit all to join, and just keep pressing the reset button over and over again to no luck until randomly it will work.

I go to the Aqara Hub and it works within half a second.

Ill take any recomendation at this point. I personally love the Aqara sensors, once they are connected I rarely have an issue with them but getting them connected is a pain.

I am sitting on like 25+ of these sensors I bought I just haven't spent the time to set them up cause of how annoying it is.

are you pushing the reset button long enough? like 30 seconds..

The button Press should only be around 5 seconds

ok, is your hub still connected? Sensors trying to pair with hub first instead of z2m?

zigbee coordinator attached directly to pc or with an extension cable?

pliant radish
#

Directly to PC

i had better results with extension as adviced, but maybe unrelated.. Wifi channel router/accesspoint interfering with zigbee channel?

I have 93 Devices connected through Z2M

#

But its not impossible

#

When it would pop up and start pairing i would get " Error: Interview failed because can not get node descriptor"

#

This seemed to be fixed when i saw it start pairing i put it directly next to my server and then it didnt happen again

just trying to rule out user config issues, so HA can troubleshoot without doing the basics first

I have alot of zigbee traffic, every switch and light in my house is zigbee

storm drum
#

with extension usb you will have better signal

pliant radish
#

Why do you think that?

storm drum
#

because your antenna is now directly placed to a metal box...

#

😉

pliant radish
#

I meannnn

#

This is where my server is

storm drum
#

is you buy a zigbee dongle from HA, you will get cable standard for that reason

pliant radish
#

Mini PC housing is plastic...

storm drum
#

half a meter is enough

#

ok

pliant radish
#

I would expect more latency in a USB extension than plugging directly into that PC tbh

storm drum
#

dont think so..

#

but its def. signal related.

pliant radish
#

But every other zigbee connecting is perfect

#

Once they are connected they are perfect too

My mesh seems organized how id expect
