all my automations have the following error at the top: This automation cannot be edited from the UI, because it is not stored in the automations.yaml file, or doesn't have an ID.

all the automations are in the automations.yaml file and have been working just fine for the last years.
today all automations decided it was time to stop being editable and to show me the middle finger :(

after restoring:
all settings via a backup from tonight the whole homeassistant folder and the config folder decided its time to go and they are just empty ...

strangely enough all the automations dont have the message anymore and they work fine?

i dont know whats going on, i have a backup of these folder but i dont want to breake even more by throwing a bunch of stuff back in

any help is welcome, thanks! :)

That error might happen, if the include for the automations.yaml has been removed from the configuration.yaml.

If you have restored a backup, do a full reboot (not just restarting HA).

The add-ons often misbehave without a reboot.

huh okay hat actually fixed it, thanks!
strange that the whole folder was empty even to SCP or a SSH andls

The add-on does not actually show the real data. Those are containers with access to certain selected resources from the base system. If the mounts fail for some reason, it looks like there would be nothing, for example.
