I have an automation triggered by sunset with offset. I want to put this offset into a helper but I want to be able to use both negative and positive offsets by inputting the value in the companion app. What would be the best approach to do that?

i recommend looking at triggering on on the value of "solar elevation" (entity on sun device) sunset is usually when it goes down to 0. but if you want slightly earlier you can trigger when it goes below 5 degrees for example.
using elevation tends to make things a bit more reliable for actually triggering at a light level which may change seasonally depending on where you live.
