I just started my project and purchased a shiny new Pi5 and an ELO 32" panel. Now I am confused because I thought I could get the panel to load from the pi using HDMI but it seems that isn;'t the case. Now I am looking for a way to get the ELO panel to load chrome at boot and point to my HA server.

echo helm
#

sounds like you installed HAOS on the rpi to run the HA server

#

you would need to put the screen on another system and load a browser on it

#

or use another system as the server and use the rpi with a standard OS

#

or if instead of running HAOS install you used a standard OS then used a container install using docker. you could run the server as a container and then run the browser seperatly to access it. BUT if you run container instead of HAOS you give up the ability to use addons and for easy integrated updating

i have a Synology NAS that can run docker. Does that help any?

echo helm
#

technically yes you can run container install on it then use a normal os with a browser on the RPI
BUT
please dont, synology installs are a mess. they never work right

or maybe run chromecast device on the elo to get chrome?

echo helm
#

but yes if it runs a browser then you could just use the rpi at the server and use the CC to run a browser on the screen

#

also something to note as your new and running on a RPI. DO NOT use an SD card long term it will be slow and it will fail

good to know

#

so i guess i will use the cheapest thing possible to get an OS screen on the panel and use the browser to point to HA. any cheap reliable solutions for that? Maybe some kind of computer on a stick?

echo helm
#

nothing that I would directly recommend really

#

you could get something like a green to run the HA server instead then use the rpi you have for displaying
