#UK No neutral 2 way wiring with Aqara T1

I feel this is a really dumb question but I'm completely stumped and can't find anything through Google.
Can anyone tell me if I'm going mad or not?

I bought Aqara Single Switch Module T1 (No neutral) and wanted to use it in a 2 way switch (3 way for the North Americans here).

The manual includes a wiring diagram and I've followed it and the Aqara works fine but the switches don't?

I'm run bunches of tests to check my understanding and it all makes sense so I feel confident I'm correct.

Has anyone had issues with smart relays on 2 ways here?

I've followed the wiring diagram 3 from the manual but it feels like S0 isn't being picked up by the relay. I've used a multimeter and see that the cable feeding into S0 does have current so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Please can someone help?

there are 2 ways that 2 switch circuits are wired in the UK

#

are you sure your light is wired in the way its shown in diagram 3?

#

its expecting this configuration

#

the other method is something like this

#

which did you start with?

I have the first diagram (strictly speaking I think this is called The European method).
I do not have the same amount of wires in switch 1 in the 2nd one you shared. 👍

#

I can share pictures of the switches as confirmation if it helps? However it's not particularly clear to see as it's a 2 gang light switch (however I'm only doing one of the gangs which is linked to the 2 way wiring which is why I ommited it)

#

I should also mention that I don't have access to the ceiling rose so I'm unable to reach any neutral wires or install a bypass

acording to the disgram its expecting you to wire it like this

#

you will probably see the problem with this

#

you mentioned you have 2 gang switch, is this the case for both switch 1 and switch 2?

the new box there there is the T1

#

if there is a perm live at switch 2 for another circuit then you could put the T1 there and have everything you need
if switch 2 is just a single switch then you could bypass it and wire it as a single switch setup at switch 1 and replacce switch 2 with a battery powered smart switch thats not connected to anything

i assume if you could put sonething in the ceiling then you would have just used a normal relay instead of messing with a no neutral

moment

#

so this is what you should have

#

with T1 behind Switch 2

#

ah mistake

#

thats labled correctly now

#

Yep that's what I got

#

And it makes sense to me too

#

For some reason the physical switches still don't 🤣

#

I'll give it another go tomorrow with a different relay and check it's not the physical relay that is having an issue

#

I'll report back my findings 👍

it could by a phyiscal fault but no neutral stuff can be flakey sometimes.
do you have an old incandescent bulb knocking about? try with that (sometimes if the bulb is low power then it can mess with the amount of power the no neutral stuff can get)

#

Yes I do actually because I had flickering problems on another relay (shelly) which needed a higher W.

i use shelly relays for the msot part myself and havent and any issues with them but i have neutrals everywhere so have more options i guess. the higher wattage bulb is worth a shot for testing at least
