#How do I make sections take up more space?

Hello! There are a couple tools for playing with sections & cards layout, you can tweak both until you get the view you need:

  • Card layout - you will see in blue the section's layout where the card is expected to be fully shown
  • Section layout - where you can decide each section how much width it should take

I recorded a small video of one of my demo dashboards clicking around so you can see what I mean. My best advice is to have fun with it and play with different configurations, until you find what suits best for the entity you are displaying.

You can also use less columns here which will allow things to stretch a bit more too.

It’s the pencil by the house in this screenshot

#

The house is the name of the dashboard tab

As far as I am aware, that's what I sent the screenshot of

#

I do not have "section view specific settings" on any of my section views

Weird 🧐

and I think all of the cards are taking up as much space as they're allowed

#

but this is the most space I seem to be able to take up

#

and I'm not zoomed out 😄

Try the full card width toggle

That doesn't seem to change anything for me

Did you save after? I don’t think it updates in realtime if I’m remembering correctly

viscid condor
#

Well, I think it will allow specific cards within each section to take up as much space is available within the section itself

#

I edit and save on one computer, and then refresh the other computer to view the changes

👍

#

I’m on my phone so I can’t test any thing at the moment

There might be something else going on that's causing things to be weird. I run HAOS in a VM on Windows, and I cannot edit the view settings on the same computer

You can also set the width of an individual section if you haven’t tried that— so the card full width setting and the section width in concert may do it for you

That might be what I'm looking for

#

Is that YAML code I need?

keen bear
#

Nah

#

All via ui. Pencil by the top of the section and then editing the card(s)

Okay, so I seem to have access to edit the sections on one computer, but not the view
and on the other I have access to edit the views but not the sections

idk what's going on, but with that I was able to get things to the way I want them

thanks for the help
