Hello all, I have a problem where my bulbs first display their previous color (for about 50ms) before they transition to the new color that I selected in Home Assistant.. why is this and how do I prevent this? I want to stop getting flashbanged when I turn on the lights in the dark at 10% but the previous value was 100%..

This doesn't happen when I directly change the light color in Zigbee2MQTT, but only in Home Assistant.

Some bulbs don’t allow for this. What do you have?

IKEA Tradfri bulbs and I even bought a few new ones from a different brand (RexTech), all have the same issue

The only ones I have that work the way you want are from lifx. There may be other solutions.

Also found this which could apply somewhat https://community.home-assistant.io/t/tradfri-transition/17530/25

Thanks, I figured out that everything works if I just set the color first (before calling light.turn_on) and then turning on the light guarantees a good transition without the previous color

fwiw, all the ikea tradfri bulbs i own support the commands to change color/brightness without turning the bulb on needed to support this. I don't have any experience with Z2M regarding this feature tho. ZHA does not use it by default.

Just not very sure how to do it yet without it taking hours to setup
