Depends on how you plan to install HAOS. In a VM or bare metal?
There are detailed instructions on the website
I want to install HAOS on my computer.
I bought a computer (dell optiplex 5050) that is entirely dedicated to HAOS.
Another question: Why do I have to install Ubuntu and then install Home Assistant from there?
Why not make a USB of Home Assistant OS and install it directly?
You don't install Ubuntu, that's a live boot to allow you to write the image to the drive
Is this the only way to do it? Is it like windows that knows how to install itself on the drive?
I think the installation instructions document two ways to do it - with the drive installed in the target machine and connecting it to a different machine or device
in any case, I suggest following the official instructions
You don't need to install Ubuntu, just boot Ubuntu Instalation and close the instalation window, now you download balenaetcher and HAOS img, flash the HAOS img in balenaetcher to you Hard disk of your computer. and the computer will boot HAOS.
